9400M should be more than enough for starcraft 2. Heck the gma x3100 might run it on lower settings.

Diablo 3 is a different story. Won't run on ANY intel integrated chips. I'm pretty sure the 9400M would work, since it can run fallout 3, but I don't know about highest settings:rolleyes:.
Why do you think there's such a huge difference between SC2 and D3? If you compare the videos from both games that have been released (the gameplay movies and such) you won't notice that much of a difference. I'd reckon both games will have sorta same specs in the end. Obviously this is just me guessing.

And I'm more in favour of a 15" MBP because discrete graphics will allow me to give more juicy details in Starcraft and still be able to have decent fps. FPS is a big thing in a fast rts like starcraft. laggy = bad, very bad in a rts game!

FPS is not a big thing is any rts game because of the perspective. 30 fps in starcraft will not make the game unplayable but try doing that in counter-strike or a racing game.

Right those games are pretty graphics intensive. However I have my xbox 360 games for that, just trying to determine if starcraft 2 will run decently.

In Australia it's about $1000 difference between the base macbook and the base macbook pro, and $550 difference between the 2.4ghz mb and base mbp. It's a big price jump just to be able to play a few games casually which is why I'm trying to get as much info as I can. cheers guys.
The last time I checked Starcraft 2 wasn't on the XBox 360.

I built a new PC just to play Company of Heroes.

when the games come out, are you guys going to buy the Mac version, or the Windows version?

Does it make a lot of differences?

It will be an universal disc, if I'm not mistaken. Same data on the disc, but different installer file when you insert the disc into a OS X or Windows computer.

It would be stupid if they'd release two seperate editions as I want to install SC2 on both my future MBP and my current Win XP SP2 desktop system. And I don't want to buy the game twice, especially not because it will be a trilogy! I'm not paying 6 times to be able to install it on two systems! ;-)

Also for Starcraft 1 they provided a .dmg installer so you could use the original windows disc to install on OS X.

PS: World of Warcraft is just one version I think. Installable on MAC and Windows with the same disc. If I'm not mistaken! ;)

When these games come out, will you play them with the computer's display, or with an external display? I wouldn't want to play a RTS on a 13'' screen...

i'm in the same boat as you though i ordered a 2,4ghz macbook an hour after the annoucement, im still not sure its the right choice. It wont be delivered for another 2 weeks, and im afraid i might end up cancelling the order and place a new one for the small mbp.

Wont be playing the same type of games as you, since im more to fps games, but might play some starcraft or even diablo when the new ones come out.

Anyone have any idea of how well the macbook will perform in counter-strike source, connected to an external display with a resolution of 1680*1050?
Have seen a video on youtube with a guy playing some Team fortress 2 on the macbook and it runs with fps from 30-60, but when your in the middle of the action i seems like its mostly around the 30fps, and what happens when it gets run at a higher resolution, wont the fps drop to like 10-15 then? (which is clearly too low)

if are connecting it to an external display why don't you just use a desktop? You can build a decent gaming rig sans monitor for 800USD.
