speech problem

I started using speech recognition yesterday and it was working fine,
today it doesn't seem to be working at all.
I have the command set to F5, which doesnt do anything. The small mic volume and command app that used to appear doesnt anymore.
The Speakable Items box is ticked as On but still, nothing is happening.

Anybody know of a way to solve?

Okay, open another user account and see if the problems carry over. This is a pretty easy way to generally check if it's a user preference problem.
