Hi! I thought the IOS 5 was supposed to include speech to text for text messages, etc. But after downloading IOS 5, it looks like it is not available after all. Am I missing something? Do I need to turn it on somewhere in IOS 5? PLEASE say it's a new feature!

iPhone 4S only feature.

Aw. I sad!!! Dragon Dictation seems like a hassle, opening the app, speaking, selecting what to do with it, etc, but it'll do!

It can be a hassle, but it's much better than nothing I have found.

Use vlingo, its much closer to siri being able to say "text [persons name] blah blah blah" and it'll send it instead of having to pick what you want to do with something after you dictate it

Nice! I've never heard of this one. Downloading now 😎

yeah vlingo, you can say "text Bob HI how are you!" And it'll take you to the SMS right away, BUT BUT BUT it costs 6.99 for that specific feature. 6.99 vs 199 for a new 4S haha!

It was free for me? I've used it a few times already

Vlingo is completely FREE now in version 2.1.0. I've tested it out sending texts and emails by speaking only and it works pretty well. I don't plan on using it really but its an alternative for non iPhone 4S users.

Yeah, vlingo updated their app on Oct 4 to make it completely free. 🙂

I just downloaded vlingo, it had all of the features mentioned above and it was free, not 6.99. Pretty cool alternative, will definitely hold me over till I can/will upgrade.
