Speed limits in Google Maps

Finally! Not noticed it yet here in the UK, though the app is literally just installing an update right now...

The data is probably just lifted from Waze, but I haven't tried it yet.

Unfortunately not yet scheduled for the Netherlands. This is the number one feature I'm missing in Google Maps.

How do they get this information, if not from driving down every road and making meticulous notes?

Presumably its readily available as numerous other mapping\navigation apps have it. In fact i get it in the UK on Apple Maps when i've entered a route and have it giving directions. I doubt its a case of folk having to make notes of all the limits.
