I currently have a treo, and wanted to know if the iPhone would be much faster at browsing the internet? I mean the ads are like blazing fast. No way it is that fast, but is it possible that it is much faster than my current treo 650?

Seeing as it's not released yet, no one will be able to answer your question. Wait till a day or 2 after the release, when extensive tests have been performed by many members, and then ask your question again.
And considering it uses wireless network, and might use 802.11n, provided you had a fast enough connection, I'm sure the pages could load very fast indeed.

Who's your service provider? The data service they offer is going to dictate that more than anything, but with Blazer, anything has gotta be faster. WAP browsers, for the most part, just plain suck.
I've got a 650 with Sprint, and anytime I'm forced to hit the web with it, I just cringe.
The iPhone has wi-fi so if your using that data connection it will be much faster than your Treo. Also, from my experience with the Treos, the Blazer browser which comes standard; has to be the slowest rendering POS I've ever experienced!
Although the iPhone and the 650 both have edge, I'm sure the iPhone will render sites faster with all other things being equal. Edge speeds just aren't that fast any way you care to slice it, so I wouldn't expect blazing speed irregardless of the platform; when running off that form of connection.

I am currently with cingular. Been out of a contract forever, hate to go back into contract. But this phone is tempting me like crazy. Thanks.

I guess it really depends on what specific situation you're in. WiFi is probably going to be fastest in the iPhone, but if you have an iPhone on AT&T's GSM and Treo on Sprints 3G network, the Treo has access to the fastest networkm though I can speak on specific browser bench marks. Basically, on a cellular network, the iPhone will be slow, but should be fast on WiFi, while the Treo has faster cellular options, but no WiFi, which trumps most cell data speeds.
