Spell Check Troubleshoot

After recently upgrading to iOS 11.1 my iPhone has been having a spell suggestion issue. When I try to use “I” in a sentence, it tries to convert it to these weird characters. I’ve attached a screenshot to show you.

Any help removing this would be appreciated. I know that I could turn off the suggestions, but I’d rather not do that if I don’t have to.
