Weird, I couldn't find it when I searched for it on Amazon. Even now, it won't come up except via that link. I wound up ordering from Brookstone. Looking forward to playing with it. A video I found on it (from IGN UK) indicates additional features/vignettes will be released by the developers through the app eventually.

Just reserved one for in-store pickup from Bed Bath and Beyond. Every store within 100 miles around me had them in stock!

I think this looks awesome, but it's a little expensive for me.

It's cute but my heart belongs to R2-D2. Isn't Artoo going to be in the new movie or was he scrapped?

Artoo will defintely be in the movie, you don't need to worry about that. We've seen him in the 2nd teaser trailer with Luke.

Its fun looking but ultimately just a toy. Will be disappointing for regular daily use thinking it could be fun, that will wear off quickly. The 100 foot radius pretty much sums up the usability of this item, toy toy toy. Still for collectors or something for people to tinker with it looks fun. Not worth the price tag though.

Well, to be completely fair, it is being marketed as a toy, and not something more. Not really sure why anyone would infer otherwise.

I just did this as well. I am going to keep the Amazon order until I have it in hand though. I don't know how reliable BB&B in store pickup is, as I have never done it.

My exact thoughts. Don't want to risk losing Amazon.

I bet they did the full sized BB-8 that was in the movie shoot. Coser to Christmas, my guess they will sell a full sized BB-8 special edition for just under a grand for the hardcore fans.

My fiancée tried to buy one at our local Disney Store - Norwich (Norfolk, UK) but they were out of stock earlier this morning.
I checked the Disney Store online and ordered one there instead (still in stock just before midday UK time)!

They're expensive - £129.95 - but not vastly more than a normal Sphero, which I'd been thinking of getting for a while.

I think my 2.5 year old daughter is going to love seeing this droid roll around our home. She's already enamoured with BB-8 from the teaser trailers!

One thing that I think will catch some people out - if buying for someone else as a gift - is that there's a cheaper toy version available (i.e. not a Sphero product).

Amazon UK are already out of stock and I don't want to imagine what it's like at Toys R Us!

Thanks, that's good news. My ten year old and I love Artoo not just from the movies but also from Star Wars: The Clone Wars CGI series. He saves the day a lot there, too!

In the past I have spent a lot on robots but the AI was really good. AIBO interacted with my bio pets surprisingly well. The robot was self-contained and you needed a remote for interaction only if you wanted to run hacks. Personal robotics hasn't progressed from AIBO quite the way I'd hoped.

I love this little guy already, but indeed he's too small for the price they're asking. Now I understand with all that tech you are paying a bit of premium (along with it being Star Wars), but $99 would have been more reasonable for one this size.

Still, I'll probably be staring at it almost as much as the Macs when I visit the Apple store again. ;)

Had a friend grab one from our local Meijer for me while I was at work last night. Love this little guy! Although Patrol mode was basically an hour of him rolling into walls repeatedly lol.

Was surprised how small it was in the videos I saw, but still looks fun. Not just for me, but more so to interact with my 2 cats.
