Yes, you read that right. Now, just so you are aware, this is based on Basilisk/Borealis code from early 2018, which was probably it's first or second release after it forked from FF52.9/seamonkey. I had been picking at this on and off since then. So, with that said, it's not the latest and greatest with any security updates or bug fixes since that point in time, but it's modern enough to surf the web pretty hassle free. This will probably be the only release. I rarely use 10.6 these days, and between my other projects and work, time is limited. Anyway, enjoy.

Doh! Sorry about that. I've had libc++ on my system for years. Totally forgot it's not part of 10.6 by default. I'll fix the .dmg. In the mean time i've attached the 2 needed libs. Just copy them both to /usr/lib as root/admin user.

@Amethyst1 : Sure if i can find it. It's a package i found eons a go that also included boot logo and finder icon also. Edit: Here it is:

Yeah! One more nail out of the PowerPC (oops, I meant to say Snow Leopard) coffin. Even if its never updated it builds and works now, so someone else could go from here. Thank you again for all you have done, Mr. Wicknix!

Just wanted to say getting really good youtube performance on Interweb, macbook pro 3,1 core2 duo with h264ify and ublockorigin extensions installed. 16%-33% CPU with 720p. Happy with that.

Fantastic - I am now using InterWeb as my default browser in 10.6 as it's better than the TFF Intel version (even updated to FPR 18) ;)

@wicknix since we have InterWeb on Lubuntu please what are the chances of a PPC build for Leopard?

It should be better on the web as its code base is years newer. :)
As for an OS X ppc build. It's on my list to "try", but i have a feeling it wont build with 10.5's sdk. For the 10.6 builds i wound up using 10.8's sdk and building on my MacBook running 10.7.

On a side note... anyone running 10.5 intel? I'm wondering if a simple edit of info.plist and dropping min version to 10.5 would allow these to run (probably need the 2 libs installed as well).

I really like SpiderWeb a lot, thank you! It's nice how one can hide the nav tool bar with one click (OS' button in upper right window corner), so simple, so efficient.

Question: Many of the add-ons that are included in the zip, seem to be tweaked to work in SW, what's with uBlock origin? Looks like this and others cannot be updated from within SW?!

InterWeb works really well too, I observed one problem: while the browser itself is not crashing, but the process "plugin-container" is, regardless of add-ons or plugins present/enabled or not. After launch IW runs ok for some time, but after a while crashes begin, whenever certain GUI elements are clicked on, like opening and closing tabs.

Corresponding entry in crash report reads like this:

My system is Mac intel64 OS X 10.6.5, no flash or other system wide add-ons installed.
 
Thanks for the info. I didn't really do much real-world testing with them. SpiderWeb is a rebrand/fork of the early codebase of borealis (which I think is still not released). At that time it didn't support add-ons. (Which might be why they don't auto update). I re-enabled that ability, but PM add-ons had to be modified in the install.rdf to work. So most all PM add-ons should work if you change the min/max version to 1.* and 2.* in the PM section of that file.

For interweb, that could be an early bug from basilisk, since they never released an official Mac version, nor do they plan to. I guess I'd recommend using spiderweb as a secondary browser to AF, as I locked that down more and shut off webrtc, eme, etc in that build.

Great, wicknix! First shot I gave SpiderWeb was to try and redeem a voucher I had purchased. Until recently this particular site and procedure had been working fine, but here I was, getting a blank page in ArcticFox, as well as in Pale Moon 28 and Waterfox. Your SpiderWeb really saved my day.

Now, I gather that you're not likely to be working at upgrading it (not that I have anything in the least against your changing your mind), but after adjusting the Preferences and browsing through the Help interface, (both of them remarkably comprehensive), I have a few questions:

1. Pin Tabs don't seem to exist in SpiderWeb? Is this something that can be tweaked in about:config?

2. Is there a way to increase the size of the GUI's fonts? The Help file refers to an Appearance preference pane, but much as I have searched, I couldn't find it. Maybe also in about:config?

3. Same line of thought: when a page/site is opened for the first time, I'm having to press  + “+” at least 5 times to be able to read anything. Never experienced this with another browser… SpiderWeb's Help also needs to be enlarged, but it always opens again with a minuscule font size.

4. Most Helper Applications are set to activate the QuickTime plugin. Is there a way to batch-modify this setting (say, replace all of them with "Save File")?

5. Search Engines are stashed in a search.json.mozlz4 file, whereas in ArcticFox a.o. each SE has its own xml file inside of a searchplugins folder. Is there a way to convert these xml's (easier that launching and saving every single one of 38 search sites)?

Not really a question, but maybe useful to others: possibly due to their sheer quantity, importing Bookmarks was giving the dreaded (long time no see) “unresponsive script”. After a couple of times, I gave up and quit SpiderWeb. But when I relaunched it, there they were, all of them, or so it seems. In a bit of a funny order, but restoring it wasn't overwhelming.

Also, thumbs up: Tools --> Switch Profile! Oh, and btw., not a single crash!

1) I've never used pin tabs, so after a little duckduckgo-ing is this what you mean?

2) I don't think the user interface fonts are user changeable. I'd have to adjust that in the source and rebuild. Is it really that small? It seems to be about 9pt. Would 10pt be better?

3) I haven't run in to that yet. It always displays 100% zoom by default. Check your font settings (prefs -> content -> fonts) and set minimum font size to something like 10 or 12 or higher depending on your eyes. ;)

4) No batch modify that i'm aware of. You can change them, but 1 at a time.

5) Not sure i understand this one. Is it not something that can be handled from prefs -> navigator -> internet search -> manage search engines?

It wasn't easy to think of which part in the interface to compare with screenshots. Picts

should give you an idea, relatively of course. But in this particular case, as you'll see under pt. 3, the Add-ons Manager page is now resolved. Anyhow, if it isn't too much of a hassle (I have no idea what “rebuilding” actually implies), 10pt would probably be fine.

Well, for ever — since Firefox, maybe even Netscape — that has been set to 9 or 10, so it's not something I've paid much attention to before. Here's the difference (the link you just posted, same screen and same machine of course):

As you see it's not really dependent on my eyesight. But setting the minimum to between 16 and 20 (the Help section needs this much, as you may see below) has taken care of this problem. Great improvement in the Add-ons Manager as well.

The Get more search engines link there sends you to the Pale Moon add-ons repository, where I only found two of the search engines I'm currently using in Arctic Fox. This site could be useful if I didn't already know which ones I need. And, as now is the rule, Mozilla wants you to be in Firefox before you even can look at anything. So I'm opting for opening AF's xml files one by one in SW, and picking the URL that's in them. A bit tiresome, but I'm almost done.

And hey, more kudos: one more site that wasn't, had never been working in Arctic Fox - music now playing, excellent!

A bit tricky, this. Maybe we're not thinking of the same thing? At that link there is nothing related to "Pin Tabs", and a site search doesn't turn up with any results. Strange, as it seems they've existed forever. Maybe they're called something different by different people? Here's from your NewMoon, but it's the same in AF, Firefox etc.

Ahh, gotcha. Never used that feature in FF. Apparently it was never an option for SeaMonkey (which borealis/spiderweb user interface is based on). I found this "hack" you can apply for something similar. http://forums-test.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3040331
Close buttons on each tab is also not standard or implemented in seamonkey. Middle click will close a tab, or right click -> close tab.
