I have this case and its textured back has no grip in my hand and is more prone to drops

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I've had my neo hybrid metal for about a month now. No scratches at all and had zero problems putting it on. Maybe you're doing it wrong...

I much prefer my neo hybrid metal case to the slim armor case I tried out first.

However, I think after a couple months with it, I'm going to give it up.

My main problem is the aluminum band keeps flexing and now I can practically see daylight between the band and the case in a few spots. I have taken it off only a few times and then only carefully and per instructions, but that has been enough to make it hard for the frame to keep it's shape well.

That and the metal nature of the band makes it more slippery in the hand than I would like.

Brother has a Thule case (Atmos X3) and I much prefer it, think I'm switching.
