Please, don't put drinks near Mac.........., It is so sad to see those threads about spilling water, milk, on the macbook pro.

WTF is up with threads from people reporting that they spilled stuff on their Mac?

There's a thread from one guy who spilled water, another one who spilled coke, there's another guy who spilled olive oil, and even another guy who spilled syrup! now milk??!!

What's next? I spilled a guacamole burrito on my MBP?

Seriously guys, stop munching stuff over your Mac!

I wonder if these spills happen early in the morning when people are still groggy from just getting up  Maybe there should be a poll to gauge the most dangerous time of day :p I am EXTRA careful in the morning with everything food/drink related that I do. I have my Macbook on it's own tray table and another tray table that I eat on. When I have it on my lap, I may take a swig of coffee or water but I am way off to the side as to avoid any accidental spillage from going onto my laptop.

But I agree. I can't see having any open container within spill reach of my expensive laptop. People just assume it won't happen to them, but that's why they call it an accident!

Even if it starts working properly again you're still going to have a problem - it will stink to high heaven, especially when it gets warm. Have you ever smelled sour milk? You'll be posting here next that you've thrown up all over your Mac

If it was a carpet or something I'd say to drench it in a bicarbonate of soda (baking soda/powder) solution which neutralises the acids in the milk that cause the smell, but you can hardly do that with your Mac.

I think ultimately you'll have to strip it down and remove all traces of the milk.

Water Spill

Sadly, I spilled a water with little bit of honey on my MacBook Pro, it was only a few weeks old. After 48+ hours, I rebooted the computer but trackpad was acting really weird. I decided to shut the computer off and wait for another few days... Even if I have the money, I don't know if I will have the will to pay again $2,000+ for a MacBook Pro :(
