ahh yes, Global News here is now airing news promos "could bagged greens be deadly?" and a like.

gotta love being alarmist. You know I don't find 1 death and 50 - 100 people getting sick to be all that scary. I remember 5 years ago it was sprouts that were going to kill you, everyone remember sars? and westnile? everyone's gonna die!

I really, really need to get rid of my TV.

Isn't it somewhat ironic that the first company named is "Natural Selection"?

If they hadn't been in the business for more than 30 years, I'd think that they had an agenda other than selling vegetables.

Erm, I've been consuming fresh bagged spinach almost every day for the last week.

If I suddenly drop off these forums, you'll know why.

When you consider the millions of Americans who ate fresh bagged Spinach yesterday... 1 dead ain't bad.
I agree, TV needs to go in the trash. Then again, I get all my news from MR anyways... including this spinach thing!

They're probably targeting individual portions of our diet so that we'll be afraid to eat anything--spinach, liver, cauliflower, broccoli--all the children's favourites. ;)

What will they attack next, our toilet paper?

I believe if you cook your spinach up to 160 degrees, it'll kill the bacteria.
Might as well eat the canned or frozen stuff if you're going to have to cook it though.

There was an update released a few minutes ago. Looks like the warning has widened in scope to include all fresh spinach.

I'm heartbroken about this. We had to toss out quite a few bags of spinach after this tidbit of news... I hate iceberg lettuce, so without spinach, I've got nothing to make salads with. Alas. :(

Actually, I read that mixed prepackaged salads were okay, but I can't recall where I heard that from. Does anyone know anything more?
