Not with iMovie. Final Cut Pro (Express maybe?) allows editing in native formats.
Adobe CS3 might help you too, they have some sort of "Adobe Device Central" that is designed for production for mobile devices, though I've barely played with it at all so I can't say exactly how it would be useful.

Maybe iMovie 08 since it's supposed to take in any format. I can't verify this info on the website though.
