Right now I have one appleid user for iCloud and iTunes/App Store. I've had it a long time and it is one of the .mac/.me ones that can't be changed.

I have many iTunes purchases made under this id.

I want to split things so my iCloud and iTunes use different appleids so I can then share the iTunes one.

What is the way to this?

Creating a new id for iCloud use involves hassle as does a new one for iTunes. If I create a new one for iCloud I have the changed email address problem. If a create a new one for iTunes that defeats the ability to share my existing content.

Any advice from people who have done this is greatly appreciated.

There is currently no way to split an AppleID like you want. The best you can do is like you mentioned and just create a new iCloud account and keep the existing AppleID for your purchases.

Ok, thanks. Before bite the bullet, are there any other implications to changing to a new iCloud appleid? My email address will change, so too iMessage, FaceTime, etc. Anything else? Product registrations? Apple developer program?

It might just be that changing my iCloud id creates too many problems as well?

It would impact any of that, but a new iCloud account will impact your calendar and contacts for example if you are using it to sync those things.
