For those who split 2TB or 3 TB Fusion drive into separate HD and SSD, happy with the result to get an inexpensive SSD? Can you post R/W speeds?

Thinking of getting a higher end 2917 27” iMac with 2TB Fusion drive and wondering if worth it to split or spend extra for dedicated SSD.

What are you planning to do with the unfused drives? Will you be installing the operating system on the SSD or mechanical drive?

Install OS and frequently use apps, about 80GB total, rest on HDD or external SSD.

If buying a 'high end' iMac, why not just go ALL SSD, and call it a day?

Curious...

I'm using a 2TB fusion drive, and have no issues. My backups (Time Machine), goes to an external SSD ;)
