Split keyboard

Hi, anybody know what does this? iPad Mini 1 (wifi), 9.3.5 iOS, 1.6GB storage left. Every time keyboard opens in any app, it is split like this. Rebooted to no avail. Any help would be appreciated. My grandson uses this one a lot, it keeps him off my Mini 4.
 
Never mind, got it now. Touch and hold "Hide Keyboard" (lower right key) and options to dock or split show up. Thanks anyway.
