Hi, I dont have a developer account, so I couldn't download and try out the new iOS 11. But just curious if this is possible. Can you have two split screen apps and a third floating app open at the same time?

If this is possible, my only problem with iOS is multiple instances of same app (having multiple MS Word open and etc)...

Just tired it. Had safari and music open, tried to make another app float and it got rid of music.

I’ve seen screenshots of others doing it, but every time I tried I got a similar reaction. Maybe it’s limited by what kind of apps can do it.

I read somewhere that you need 4gb of ram to do this.

Here’s my iPad Air 2 running Safari and Geekbench 4 in split screen with notes in pop up, and a pip video playing.

2 and 3 don't look active though. I thought i saw somewhere on a pro 12.9 that had three of them active (2 split screen, and a pip video playing)

Thanks for the link, makes sense, the pop up app and video play then when you click to interact with the split view the pop up slides to the side though the pip video stays and continues playing, still not bad for an Air2..

Sorry my wifi at work was slow uploading, but here is a short video

damn that's still pretty cool the Air 2 can pull that off. (and your video has a soothing lava-lamp feel to it :D )

Thanks! Yeah I’m impressed for a beta 1. I used the new screen recording feature, then rotated(cuz for some reason the video was sideways in the gallery) and shortened with iMovie, uploaded to YouTube via the share option, all from the iPad.

I was hoping that I can use Safari + Excel as splitscreen with a calculator app running as a floating one.

Haha for some reason I thought you were telling me to use my iPhone as a 4th window, looking at that screen shot lol

how do i switch out one of the apps when i am in split view with another one? i never properly understood it on iOS 10, let alone now haha

for example in the attached image, how can i switch out friendly with lets say twitter? i see no way to minimize it all together? all i can do is have it float or move it between left and right but no switching out. do i have to make safari full size first and then pick another app from the dock?

There's a faint gray bar above Friendly. Swipe down from there

I’ve been able to just drag another app and drop it over the one I wanted to replace in the split view...

That only makes it float again?

When activating slide over (floating app) can you flick the app off the screen and then bring it back by swiping from the edge? If not how do you go about bringing back the previous slide over app without starting the process again from the dock?

True, swiping down on the grey bar will make it float again. When replacing an app in split view all I’ve had to do is drag the new app and drop it on the side I want it on and it replaces the one in split view.

Yes you can bring a floating app back into view by swiping from the right side.
