I'd wish Apple would include it. It would be a great selling point for the + and quite useable in landscape mode. Do others feel like they are missing split view with their phone?

Yes, I agree. The Plus model carries so much more potential just from its screen size, Apple ought to implement more features that are suited to the larger screen, like Split View, or even Slide Over. All this past year, the 6+ has been compared competitively with the Note 4, and the coming year will see 6s+ compared with the Note5 - and they're going going to be worthy competitive comparisons. If Apple implemented Split View ( and dare i say, a smaller Apple Pencil for the 6s+), the 6s+ would blow the Note5 out the water.

I've said this since the 6+ was launched. Would apps be the iPad versions or the iPhone versions? I think it should be treated like an iPad Nano.

Well considering the iPad apps are designed for a device with a 4:3 screen and the 6+ has a 16:9 screen...

Honestly, I still don't see how Split view is usable at all on anything not a large/mega tablet (like >8", and notice its not an equals to). Even on the Galaxy Note 5, when I tried Split Screen, it just felt useless. Same for that one reachability jailbreak tweak. So much content of the app is cut off that the productivity bonus is non-existant. If anything it's WORSE in landscape, because now you don't even have variable height.

One of my biggest disappoints with Apple. They did NOTHING for the 6+ but give us a few native apps that look different in landscape mode compared to the 6.

I wish they included split view and the trackpad to select txt. The more people report this to apple the bigger chance of them including this.

No real correlation has been established between people providing feedback about something and Apple doing something about it. Certainly plenty of things mentioned by many over the years that haven't been done by Apple.

And, we can't event lock the device in landscape orientation for navigation on two wheels.

They also left out using the keyboard as a trackpad for the cursor in the GM. o_O

They made it an exclusive feature to 3D touch for the iPhone. (Which is one of the first time I actually questioned Apple's decisions)

I agree. I used it on my 6 for a bit but then it was removed from the following betas. While the implementation wasn't great it did work. I think because it wasn't as responsive as it could be they decided to push it to 3D Touch. What is better is that you can use one hand rather than 2 (I would assume). Before you had to use 2 fingers to accomplish the keyboard/trackpad feature but with 3D Touch you should be able to do it with one hand. I'm guessing a light press moves the cursor while a hard press starts selection? But if you are typing anything worth having to move the cursor or select text your most likely using 2 fingers (both hands) anyways.

Another feature added to make it 3D Touch/6s/6s+ exclusive.

That was removed much earlier right after beta 1 pretty much with the implication that it was a feature for iPads.

Is it really available on the 6s/6s Plus? I was under the impression that it wasn't related to 3D Touch and was just more of an iPad-only feature.

I think apple decided having the gesture not be doable one handed on phone made it not suitable, so they pulled it after first beta. This gesture can be done one handed, and is shown on apple 6s site.

Yeah, perhaps 3D Touch plays some role in it after all, as afar as being usable enough (in Apple's eyes) when doing it one-handed without inadvertent activation of it or something else of that sort.

No split view as that would be like Apple shooting themselves in the foot. Remember Apple wants to sell the iPad Mini as well

Yes, I know. But I was expecting them to have it in the GM, such a fine feature. And as its not an iPad-exclusive feature now, why have it available only in the 6s phones, when it works so well in earlier ones?

Certainly a good feature. Not sure how well it worked specifically but have heard of people accidentally activating it at times. Perhaps with 3D Touch they made it less prone to accidental activations. Given that it wasn't in most of the betas it seems that the expectation was that it wouldn't change in the GM.

Perfect example of how I'd use it - baby monitor open on one side while doing something on the other. Wish it was coming to the phone.

3D Touch seems comparable to two finger/right click of OS X, but better suited to one handed mobile use.

comparable because of how you get the context menus when touching home screen icons

and the fact that the trackpad feature is enabled with it- where previously two fingers worked.

it's a shame- we could, in an alternative reality, have had app switching on older iPhones with two finger swipes too. alas

just thought- now we know why the app switcher was redesigned to put apps on the left.
