Splitting iTunes Music folder?

I'm running out of space on my HD, so I have moved all of my movies over to my external harddrive, thing is, this now means I can't import them into iTunes to sync with my iPod without them being copied into my iTunes Music folder on my mac HD...

Is there anyway of splitting your iTunes Music folder between two drive locations, so as iTunes still recognises files in both locations, but with Movies in one location and music in another, for instance? 😕

You really can't split them, so why not move the whole thing?

I wouldn't be able to access my tracks when I wasn't nr my external HD then..
I could come up with some sort of syncing strategy but it would have been easier to split the folder. Thanks anyway.
