to clarify what void means: this is the link that he thinks will be the stream... nothing is up as of yet and this is just his highly professional and educated guess

also once the link is put on that site void will provide us with a link that opens quicktime directly so it would be wisest to wait for that

to clarify: this would be the location of the link to the quicktime stream. The actual URL to enter in your quicktime player or browser is a lot more complicated and frankly, impossible to guess.

As it is now the witching hour in the uk, I think I may log on in the morning..... maybe just 5 mins more.....

very true... unless your Darren Brown... he could most defiantly guess it :)

IMHO it's best to wait for the link that opens QuickTime directly.

i would completely agree with you... its not worth the risk at all

I closed Firefox, and then came back later, and opened it, and to my dismay, my homepage was the default Apple homepage for Safari.

....I immediately hit the Macrumors bookmark link though :D. Don't think I saw anything TOO bad.:(

communism?

No, seriously, I mean, what can be the reason? It's not as if every little detail isn't already written in every blog on Earth. And encoding a 1h stream (with only average quality, as it always is) doesn't take anywhere near this long. So...

That's why you should turn off images, and make your homepage about:blank.

To be fair, I think its a little more complicated then that. For a start, if there working with HD video that's quite a compression by it's self, and don't forget they have to edit and /top tail it a bit. Also i'm pretty sure they don't just encode one 'average' quality stream. I'm pretty sure there are multiple streams and it gives you the best quality one your net connection can handle

Not so sure about the quality comment. The streaming version is generally very average quality (and I have a 20Mb connection), whereas the iTunes Podcast version is substantially better.

Come on, TV stations can do that live.

Yes, you do need powerful equipment but that should be no problem for Apple.
