Meh, it doesn't look like it belongs on the car. Maybe you'll get lucky and your burglar will steal it. :D

My opinion hasn't changed.

Only slightly. :) Take several steps _back_ and shoot in landscape mode, you know, because a car is W I D E R than it is tall :D

I like the spoiler, it follows some of the lines of the car, and on a lot at a dealer, most folks would think it’s OEM vs. aftermarket (some people have an aversion to aftermarket...) I happen to like well executed aftermarket components, and while there’s a specific aerodynamic purpose behind a wing like this, I doubt it’s harmful (again, at “street speeds”), and it’s a nice differentiator between your car and the other silver Altimas.

I realize there is some _horrific_ aftermarket stuff tacked onto cars, domestics, imports, you-name-it, I’ve seen some abominations driving around and at car shows.

Take my license plate # while you're at it.

I’ve been on a huge number of car forums over the years, and I’ve even done it myself, but I wonder what the real exposure is with showing a plate. I mean, it’s available for hundreds of people to see every single day, people park their cars in front of their homes, so your address is easily related to your tag number. Call and report it stolen for kicks? Somehow order a replacement (which would also require a DL, other ID)?

I've never seen the point of spoilers on a civilian car. It's just window dressing. When I was young I had a '69 Malibu convertible with an oversized V8. There was nothing about the car that announced it had some real muscle under the hood. One night, late, I was at a signal when a kid in some show-off Mustang pulled up next to me. I was a car length up on him approaching the crest of the hill when I suddenly slowed down to the legal speed.... he grinned in triumph as raced past me. Poor kid... must not have known that the cops often had a check stop on the other side. What do they say about wisdom vs the exuberance of youth?

When I had my 1967 Volvo P1800 I raced a Z28 Camaro around Lake Ontario. The Camaro had the spoiler, the racing stripes painted on, the fancy schmancy wheels.. it looked fast. And it was, I suppose. I beat it by close to 2 hours - and as far as I know Larry and I are still the reigning Lake Lap champions at our University. Another case of the cunning and wisdom of age and experience vs the exuberance and energy of youth.

Spoilers and cr*p don't make a car fast... the driver does.

Well done! I dig it - the first picture is great because of the contrasting color of the background and your ride.

I see some new wheels in your future ... :D

That was an accident :p

New wheels?

Absolutely true.

... but there are also some fast drivers who have spoilers and “stuff” on their car :D
Oh, I wish I had a place to drive that fast… ;)
Any pics of the 1800? What a +beautiful+ design.

Mine? No… it was a long time ago… but I was thrilled to think that Major Carter might have been driving my former car. When I moved to the coast I brought it with me, so it's possible. I have no idea where it is now.

Heck, there’s dozens of HPDEs every weekend, all over the US. $300-500 for a weekend, five or 6 30-45 minutes sessions each day ... that’s a TON of track time :) Chin MoSpo is running Sebring this weekend :D

Bummer. Funny, I recently tracked down a couple of cars I sold, they were owned fairly recently (relatively speaking) so the deals (and subsequent deals) were handled through forums, made it easy to find their new homes :D

Don't live in the US, though there are the equivalent here in Canada. But I live on a small island. It's doable of course, just more expensive and takes more time to get there. Instead I have to contend with dodging suicidal bunnies and deer. Of course what I do have is the challenge of winding country roads where the legal speed limit is often difficult to maintain. It's rally driving vs track driving. No spoilers needed here.

When I had my 1967 Volvo P1800 [...]

Recalled our chat in this thread about your 1800 - don’t know if you’re a fan of Jerry Seinfeld, but he’s got a great online show called "Comedians in Cars getting Coffee” (it’s exactly what it sounds like), they generally run about 20 minutes, so not a huge commitment :)

The 3rd season has an EP with Tina Fey, and the featured car is a Volvo 1800:

The Louis CK EP this season is _amazing_ but I’m also a huge fan of his.

That link isn't working or me… oh well. But I googled it - and caught some clips. Yep… that was the car. A sweet car it was too. Thanks for posting the show. I'm going to see if I can catch some of the clips.

My car broke again. The 6th cylinder misfired. It's a mess.

----------

My car also had to get towed because of the issue above. There was a decent sized dent on the door that wasn't there before it was towed. Is the towing company held liable? What should I do?
