Not sure how many will be using this. But still good to have this new environment on Vision Pro

im considerably older than 6 years old so forgive me if I dont know any of this.
Kind of refreshing to see someone on an internet forum admitting that they don't know something rather than arguing about something that they obviously have no idea about. Kudos. There isn't enough time in the day for me to tell you about all the things I don't know.

That said, I am an adult and I actually find Spongebob quite funny. I would say that though it may not appeal to everyone (what does?), they at least somewhat target adults, so I'm trying to figure out some of the negative comments here. I recall having a conversation 20 years ago with a coworker who was quite entertained when his kids would watch it because it was one of the few shows he actually enjoyed while watching along with them.

The adults I know that watch SpongeBob are all potheads.. so this is for them, except they can’t afford anything let alone a Vision Pro. I will say the SpongeBob broadway musical was surprisingly really good although I’ve never seen the cartoon.
I'm adult Spongebob fan and not even remotely a pothead. I don't know any potheads, but I'm trying to figure out how they could convince you to drop the cash on a Spongebob Broadway show without first checking out the cartoon. That seems like a fairly gutsy risk of being trapped at a show you paid for, just to hate it for 2 hours, but I'm glad it worked out for you!

Even an animated Star Trek would be more attractive…
IMDB indicates Spongebob started in 1999 is still going after 25 years, though they are only at season 14 since the seasons take longer than a year to deliver.

Star Trek TAS lasted 2 seasons for 2 years 50 years ago in 1973-74. I was a fan at the time.

I'd be very happy to see an animated Star Trek environment, but I wouldn't argue it would be more attractive.

Well the comment wasn't supposed to be as magnanimous as you paint it but fine.

Actually Im not criticising adults watching kids shows - some shows are deliberately designed so that the parents get stuff that goes completely over the heads of the children watching. Whimsical things are not solely for children.

All that said my point stands that this is a very odd thing to add to the Vision Pro when, shall we say, the majority of customers won't watch or appreciate a young children's cartoon show and as previously stated how many Vision Pros are genuinely used by 6-9 year olds (I'm hoping none!).

I mean, you've got to be very well off to throw £3,500+ on this or any other piece of consumer tech... and its the reason why its just not selling as its beyond the reach of the vast majority of people regardless of what some see as compelling use cases the product provides.... but to spend that and give it to that age group is unimaginable especially as the device itself is far from child friendly in both its interface and materials/size/weight/fragility.

So, back to the start - what a weird choice to make a SpongeBob Squarepants environment.

Yeah, I knew, but I prefer to try to see the upside rather than critique others' choices, and try to treat people on the internet like I would if I were talking to them face to face. It just seems like the polite thing to do. I'm internet contrarian.

Spongebob has been on for 25 years. If you were 6 during the first season, you are 31 now. Nostalgia does sell and they are pushing Spongebob for the 25th anniversary. It may not be the first choice for everyone, but the 25th anniversary makes it a priority for Paramount because they are doing things to celebrate the anniversary. The AVP is niche, so it is nice that they even bothered to include it. But people complain because it is easier than bothering to see the reasoning of Paramount, and because everyone here views everything through an Apple lens. They complain "there should be more AVP media", then complain "but not that one". It is a new environment. Install it if you want, and I will try not to complain if they next add an environment for which I have no desire.

This came up on my RSS reader today and I felt the headline alone captured everything I find utterly boring about Apple these days.

Can you elaborate, as I’m not even sure how that would work. That seems like finding your tv manufacturer boring because you don’t like the shows in the TV Guide. This is a Paramount product, just another one of their promotions for SpongeBob’s 25th anniversary.

I understand that many have no interest in the AVP, but third party software has been around long enough that it is really strange that people cannot seem to differentiate in the case of this specific device. Or maybe I’m mistaken and most people do think Apple is responsible for Excel when it runs on Apple hardware? There just seems to be some that hate the AVP so much that they just want to criticize anything related to it without even bothering to think about how it actually works, which seems so sad.
