So I am thinking about getting an Apple Watch and the two models I am looking at are the Sport Space Grey or the Watch Black Stainless Steel.

I heard from someone at work that the models are known to be scratched easily and look pretty bad when this happens (I expect stainless steel to get small scratches around the body over time) but I was told that if the stainless steel black gets scratches it reveals as silver? and this model tends to have loads of wear around the crown?

I also have the same worry about the sports space grey model, I have tried to look for evidence of this but cant really find any. So if anyone owns a space grey sport or black stainless steel will you please let me know what the real deal is?

Thanks for your time.

Depends on who you ask. I have a SBSS that I wear daily on a farm and in a manufacturing area. I'm hard on watches but to be honest there is not the first mark on mine. Others will tell you the bright shiny stainless is the way to go because you can buff it out. Myself I would rather have the SBSS with a scratch on it than something shiny like the bright stainless steel.

I have the DLC finish on a custom completion gun and it doesn't have any scratches either but like I said it depends on who you ask.

I have no experience with the aluminum SGS. I had one for a few days but upgraded to the SBSS to get the sapphire crystal.

I've had the Space Grey Sport for a little over four months and no scratches on the body. I do have a slight scratch on the screen but it's not noticeable unless you look for it.

i have a black apple watch sport and i use it in pretty crazy environments and mine has no scratches or anything

The sports edition will be similar to an iPhone. If you scratch or dent it it's pretty much not recoverable. The SS version will scratch, just the byproduct of the stainless steel, but you can buff them out if they're not terribly deep scratches.

I have the space grey sport since the day it came out. There are two small knicks that happened over time that show silver, but it's hardly noticeable. Worth mentioning, I'm fairly careful with the watch.

The same here - had my SG for 6 months - the body is spotless , but my screen has an almost unnoticeable scratch that I spotted after the first day

You can only buff out the SS model, not the black SS watch, as the black is a coating on the stainless steal. If you scratch that, you have to live with.

Buy the one that suits you. Some people will scratch anything, so don't worry about users saying that x scratches easily.

It sounds like you want a black watch. Go for it

Edit. The issue with black is that if you scratch it, those scratches remain. SS silver buffs out

OP - please change the title of your thread - there no such thing as a black Sport watch.

No you don't... You have a Space Gray Apple sport watch.

Sorry - just a peeve of mine when people don't refer to the proper colors...
