Well Apple Music has always been better than Spotify overall solely due to the Music Cloud Library feature. The issue was that Spotify was on a lot more devices and had better music finding algorithms, and still has better playlists.

The final nail in the coffin for Spotify [from my perspective anyway] would be Apple Music coming to more platforms like Xbox Series X and PS5. The Spotify integration with PS5 is pretty deep so I have a feeling it might only come to Xbox Series X, especially with the Dolby Atmos support being on both Apple Music and Xbox Series X.

But back on topic. I wish Spotify had full watch support a long time ago. It was one of the things I missed back when I had Spotify Premium.
Why would a non Apple user go with Apple Music. I wouldn’t. The only reason I use Apple Music is it’s easier with the ecosystem. Take that away and it’s no better than any other services

I’m glad they’ve finally added this basic feature. A bit on the crappy side though with just 96kb… but during a workout it should be fine I guess.
All we now need is HomePod support, AirPlay 2 support, lyrics and a useful CarPlay app.

It’s got airplay 2 support on iOS. I believe it’s just macOS that doesn’t have support.

See a lot of news sites reporting the 96kbps limit for downloads, but find nothing about that cap on Spotifys official resources. Source?

Family plan with one or more of those members being on Android, or a promo for Apple Music. I think some carries gives you a year or two of Apple Music for free.

For the better library and organization for albums. But it has so many shortcomings and irritations especially on Mac OS I dumped it for Spotify.

Too late for whom? Look how many paid subscribers Spotify have, to Apple's. Spotify dominates the whole steaming market..just say'n 🙂
they are ahead of the market, but they’ve been making the absolute most stupid decisions in the last few years. they’re actually so out of touch with the community and it’s hilarious. how many years were their users asking for this? they don’t give a crap. it’s clear they only put out this feature just to compete and keep their subscribers. look at how many complaints there are about their horrendous user interface. i was a diehard spotify fan but now i’m just about to make the switch to apple music instead.

I've been waiting so long for this. Anyone remember Snowy, the third-party app that was written to allow, that got told to stop by Spotify (I think), then purchased, and because the developer was brought into Spotify he was prohibited from talking about the project. After a few years I figured Spotify was never going to bring this feature.

A shame. Switched to Apple Music a few month back, then got the HomePod and today the Apple TV. I don’t think I’ll be returning to Spotify anytime soon. If they had introduced Watch support earlier things would probably look very different now.
Indeed, did the same due to lack of watch support. But after some months with Apple Music it was very clear that music discovery is so much better on Spotify so I went back. So this is really good news.

Better library. Maybe for some eclectic recording. Album Organization is crap on AM. So many artists have 3 names in Apple Music

I agree, Spotify was ridiculously slow with this. But music discovery somehow doesn’t work for me on Apple Music, it’s just ”more of the same”. Spotify does it so much better, at least in my case. So since this in the end is about music, not gadgets, I went back…

Agreed. As far as music discovery is concerned, Spotify is enormously superior than Apple Music.

Im not even joking but I was cancelling my Spotify account because it was lacking this feature. I like to go running with my watch only and not have to hold my phone in my sweaty hand. Last summer I used the free Apple Music preview and it was nice to not have my phone with me, this year I started bringing my phone and started telling my family we'll be switching in June, they'll be happy to hear we won't need to anymore since I think they preferred Spotify (personally I don't care).

Better late than never I guess.

Ive had an Apple Music trial the past few weeks for this very reason.

Their discovery and playlists aren’t as good for me right now but hopefully they improve

I've used all the major services and my opinion is it is better than the other services in many ways, though worse in some. And "Why would a non Apple user go with Apple Music" is the most foolish question I've heard all day. It's on Android and many Android users use it.
