6 out of the 7 Macs have Do Not Buy.

Displays: Do Not Buy

Apple TV: Caution

The only item consistently released over the last few years is the iPhone. And a slew of useless service products. Oh and Beats....wonderful Beats headphones.

Oh and Apple Watches, with loads of pretty bands that the team has worked so incredibly hard at. We've really got some great innovation in these pretty bands.

But please, continue to tell me how Apple makes hardware. I'll wait.
How is Apple a hardware company? Well, how about we look at that list you just made.

Do not buy 6 out of 7 Macs. Why? Because Apple is making new hardware.

Do not buy the display. Why? Because Apple is making a new one.

Caution for the Apple TV. Why? Because they are probably updating it with 4K.

For a company you are arguing doesn't make hardware anymore, they sure do have a lot of hardware about to come out...

Priority. He said he has a soundbar attached to his TV. That probably more than adequate for his needs. I have 6 TV's. Only 3 of them are hooked to external speakers. Only one is hooked to a proper receiver. My music is on totally separate systems consisting of 5 different zones. Different, but certainly not unique.
6 TVs? Wow. you and your fam must be avid watchers. we are down to one in our home. and you are right that it is adequate for the need. if we did not host a movie night one every 6 months we might not even need the TV. When I travel I never turn on the TV in the hotel room as the ipad works great for my needs.

Obviously Spotify is generally platform agnostic but the Apple TV is still a decently popular device.

But it is becoming isolated. Neither Spotify, nor Google, nor Amazon, nor Deezer have Apple TV apps for their music streaming. Clearly, there is not a big incentive for them to do it.

While this is disappointing to hear from Spotify (I wrongly assumed it was an Apple Music vs Spotify issue), it really doesn't stop me from using Spotify on my TV. I just AirPlay Spotify to my AppleTV.

Why do people want to LISTEN to music on a TV? I prefer to do it on a good set of speaker designed for the job. Currently it is on Sonos speakers. Not the best, but for the price and functionality, it was the best I could find when I bought them. I would like to get Amazon Prime Video on the Apple TV, as that might get me to cut Netflix out.

Yes, because connecting the TV to the sound system is unheard of...

You can leave the house without your phone, and still stream music from the watch to headphones?

Yes - if you use Apple Music (or iTunes). You can copy a few playlists worth of music directly onto the Watch itself and use Bluetooth headphones connected directly to the Watch.

This one feature alone caused me to try out Apple Music. I loved that feature... but hated pretty much everything else about Apple Music (most importantly: it was terrible at new music discovery... unless you love Top 40). I dropped AM before my trial was even over...

That said: I'm thinking of picking up an AM subscription IN ADDITION to my Spotify subscription... just for this one purpose! I would essentially only use AM for handling my preferred workout music (generally dubstep/electronic) and use Spotify for everything else.

It's actually not a bad idea because I can keep the Indie music I listen to on Spotify separate from my workout music ;-)

Apple isn't the market leader though. Android has far more market share than iOS. Apple TV isn't a market leader either - there's no shortage of competitors that are doing about as well as Apple.

But where are the majority of Spotify's PAYING customers coming from? I suspect (based on statistics of sales numbers for paid apps in general) that even though there are probably more Android listeners... the vast majority of their paying customers are on iOS.

Seems stupid to bite the hand that feeds you...

People like me that have surround sound hooked up to their TV. I also use the receiver to driver speakers in my kitchen.

I'm not leaving Spotify over this. I am leaving Spotify because I discovered I can use all my iTunes playlists and music from over 10 years seemlessly with Apple Music. Oh yeah!

Spotify has one single product, they have no other options than focusing on that product - unless they come up with something new. How can you compare this to a company that has over a dozen products?
Of course there will always be some products that are newer than others. If you want new hardware get the new iPhone. If you want new MacBooks than wait. But by then, you'd probably start complaining that the iPad is labeled as "Do Not Buy".....

Screw Spotify. I used them for years and their app was buggy as hell. Switched to Rdio and it was way better. That's no longer a thing but Apple Music is fine.

For the purpose of streaming music—isn't it just as easy to send a signal from your Apple device over Airplay? I doubt many people have Apple TV with no other Apple device. Usually when I put music on the TV I'm going around the house doing other things like making dinner, cleaning, or having people over.

What I'd really like to see is an Amazon Prime Video app, but it sounds like it's about as likely as this app. Sure, I can also AirPlay videos, but browsing videos would be a much better experience with a native app alongside all the other streaming services.

It's not even a lot of TV usage per se. It's a lot of different use. Both my daughters have their own TV in their rooms. Their TV's double as monitors for their laptops. The wife and I have a TV in our room. There's a TV in the family, the main TV in the basement, and a TV in my office for the XB1. Our house is the neighborhood gathering spot so we do a lot (too much if you ask me) entertaining.

If I were a Spotify subscriber, this certainly wouldn't be a deal breaker. As it is, I don't really listen to the Apple Music app on my ATV4. Although I'm probably in the small minority that isn't really interested in listening to music via my TV and soundbar.

Still seems like Spotify is being salty though.

It really is a bummer. I wish I hadn't used my "free 3 months" of Apple Music so early in the game. Now that a lot of the kinks have been worked out, and a more friendly UI is in place with iOS 10, it may be time to switch. I just wish I could give Apple Music a proper trial now.

U dud r 2 cheap 2 buy or what? I bought Spotify and Netflix memberships 2 many friends from da states man and to tons a d tons of ladies. All my females have Spotify men cause my people loves music know what i mean? Dont be cheap my rey and buy the apple music thanks me later and buy some 4 your gurlz and ask them 4 favors know what i meeeen???

That sucks. I'm actually shocked! It seems like a no-brainer for me. Their apps run on basically everything else.

Spotify doesn't have to give 30% to Apple. I've subscribed to Netflix for years without Apple receiving a cut since I signed up thru the Netflix website. Yet I watch Netflix mostly on an Apple TV.

I suspect Spotify is doing this out of spite (not proving a tvOS app).

The effort should be minimal, recompile current app for tvOS. Add some direction pad control hooks for controller support.
It doesn't even have to be pretty, barely functional, slap a beta logo on it, and let people limp along a bit to flesh out the demand.

Lazy developers seems to be the trend recently.

Because most people have their TV hooked up to a sound system?
