All games have to be passed by Sony and are physically mastered at Sony licenced factories. You can’t make a Game for PlayStation without Sony’s approval or without paying Sony. Same with Microsoft and Nintendo, btw. And it costs more than 30% to sell games through 3rd party stores.

Only for those using iOS, who make up the minority of mobile device users. Spotify is the market leader by a massive margin, so their complaints should rightfully fall on deaf ears. If you want an even playing field then Apple should be able to sell songs and albums through Spotify for free.
im not certain i understand your point ... to clarify, i am drawing a parallel between the app store and say the phone company which started as the wild west with all kinds of separate companies and then as it became clear that it was a fundamental utility in universal use, it began to be regulated ... the app store is similar in that it now a universal system along with android and is used as a fundamental structure of daily life especially for communication and thus i think we will rightly see calls for regulation and fairness, products can differentiate themselves but the platform should be fair

The App Store isn’t a universal platform, or even an essential service (which is why the phone company was regulated), Christ, the INTERNET isn’t even classed as an essential service yet. The app stores exist as an ecosystem/marketplace on each hardware platform. Are you suggesting the Android/iOS/Xbox/PS/Nintendo should all be regulated and forced to allow any and all apps from all parties? Imagine Sony telling Microsoft that it was going to sell its games through the Xbox store and not pay Microsoft a penny or vice versa.

no, xbox,ps and nintendo are minority platforms but ios and android combined account for 98% of all apps and a significant percentage of the apps are now critical for health and communication and a host of other important life functions ... they are arguably more essential to our lives than the phone in the 20’s and 30’s ...

Correct. Spotify isn't a competitor, they're a customer. If your whole business model is contingent upon another company's model changing to suit you... then you don't have a sustainable product.

I’m still pretty well on the fence with this conflict, but that’s a compelling argument. I do wish I didn’t have to add thing to my wish list and then switch to Safari to actually buy stuff on Amazon though.

Aye, ok then. Just because YOU want that to be true doesn’t make it so.

So because Apple is successful, they owe all the bandwith they host, server farms they store the apps on, Transaction processing to the world free? So how much money is a company allowed to accrue by your logic before all of its products are free?
[doublepost=1552585055][/doublepost]BTW I looked it up, Google play charges the exact 30% on in app purchases that Apple does. So the only real difference is that Apple doesn't allow Spotify to add a link to its web site to sign up for premium, they have to e-amil customers with that link instead.

Not true- the real difference is that android allows competing app distribution stores (Amazon, Epic, etc) thus increasing competition. But yes, the ability to link to your website for a custom payment system is also very important.
