This thread vibes like a school bus argument over whether Sega or Nintendo is better.

"Nintendo has the FX Chip!"
"Oh yeah well Sega has blast processing!"
It's an Apple site so you'll get people defending Apple. Apple Music isn't bad but for me Spotify is the better option and majority of people agree with me (outside this little Apple fanboy bubble) as it by far the most popular music streaming service.

Not being a dick here, but Spotify has never turned a profit. In 2022 it was a €236 million loss. Revenue was increasing each year, and loss was dropping, but the exchange rate means that 2023 has seen revenue drop.
they wasted a lot of money on exclusivity. Joe R.. etc..

Why do people pay fro Spotify, if all music is available for free on YouTube? $10.99 does not sound like a lot, but in ten years it is $1,318.80 even without any more price increases. And that just for music. You could buy a MacBook Air for that money.

Only Spotify can pull that one off and people won’t even budge.

I cancelled due to other reasons 2 years ago after paying for a good maybe 5 or 6 years and they haven’t send me a single email giving me like a free month or a discounted rate to come back.

Getting a Nintendo will always be part of the greatest Christmas I ever had, but Sega Genesis is still the king when it comes to the difference in graphics from one generation to the next. I will never forget seeing Sonic the Hedgehog for the first time! Sorry, I had to!!

Spotify beats Apple Music in every possible area...bar one. And that is the sound. Switching from Spotify to Apple Music on my 2015 iMac is as though someone has lifted a heavy duvet off my speakers. It's several light years better. I can't go back to Spotify - even though I vastly prefer the experience. If Spotify caught up on sound quality, I'd ditch clunky Apple Music in a heartbeat.

I got apple music because it works better on my Homepods (although I hate that Apple doesn't open them up to other music providers), because they supposedly pay artists better and because of the better (even audible on bluetooth headsets) quality. But if it weren't for the -forced - better homepod integration, I'd go with spotify. Better search and better algorithm by miles, meaning: better where it counts.

“KEEP” innovating?!?

They still don’t have Airplay 2.

Honestly, getting tired of the stagnation. Raising the price is taking the piss at this point.

Exactly. Spotify is Nintendo and Apple is Sega, but the Sega Kids just know that while the Game Gear has color and the better specs, the Game Boy has the games and the battery life. And the there's Tidal/Atari Lynx.

Comparing Spotify to Nintendo is an insult to Nintendo. Nintendo made some of the best and most classic video games ever made. Spotify…streams audio over the internet? Innovative!

And when the dust settles from the outside pay options, they'll hike it again. Prices are only going to go up. Why I use the free version. They already don't pay artists adequately as it is. I'd use AM but they don't have a free option.

Spotify could charge $50 a month and I'd still use it over garbage Apple Music. That app never optimizes, so I had to constantly re-open it to get it to connect to anything and the shuffle is complete trash. Just to name a couple of issues with it. It gets stuck in these 50-100 song shuffle loops. Apple Music is about as useful as Siri is to me. Also, most of the people who mention lossless are probably listening to Apple Music in lossless mode via Bluetooth on Beats gear or some trash "Hi-Fi" system at home filled with Polk speakers in 3.1 surround, a Sony AVR, and HomePods while screaming "LOOOSSSSLESSSS" and pounding their chests like Kong. 🤣

At this point I think people pay the Apple Music tax just to get it to stop constantly bothering them to subscribe. Honestly you may as well use YouTube Music or any other music service.

Apple is turning their services apps into absolute adware if you don’t subscribe. I just want to watch the iTunes videos I paid for, but I am constantly prompted to sign up for TV+, sign up for MLS, sign up for baseball. Just about every time I open the app now there’s a full screen takeover. Plus the push notifications Apple thinks are ok.

Apple isn’t competing in these areas, they’re using their OS success to push other things.

And yeah all the people subscribing to Apple Music for lossless and then listening over Bluetooth are just wasting their money.

Sadly it seems Google has this one figured out. May as well just use YouTube for music and let the ads pay the artists.
Apple is going down the dark path of advertising anyway.

Problem with that is I can't lock my screen and listen while driving unless I pay for YTP. Which is more expensive and artist pay is just as tenuous.

I switched to Apple Music forever ago anyway. I prefer Amazon Music over anything, but their iOS app is trash so I gave up on it.

I love Spotify but as some posts bring up, where is HiFi and where are Airplay 2.
Signed up with Apple Music a month ago just to see if it was a worthy replacement, still assessing if it is.

The raise doesn't bother me, its a hell of a lot cheaper today than it used to be purchasing CD's.

"bar one" or "but one"?
