Oh okay. 🙄

Sure it’s two seconds for one somg, but multiple that up over the course of your life for every song you ever want to play. It will start to add up.

But hey, if two secomds is no big deal then fine...instead of calling your significant other by short names like “honey” or “babe”, start using their WHOLE name (First, middle, last) each time you want to say something to them and see how fast that gets old.

I'm no longer on Spotify, but I must agree with this post. I don't know why would anyone think "it's only 2 seconds". It's 2 seconds extra everytime you command Siri to play music on Spotify.

Let's put Spotify off the table for a moment, because I have this exact experience with AppleTV X HomePod along with Apple Music (yes, Apple Music!). With Airplay 2 enabled, Siri is aware of compatible speakers within home network. But if I want to stream Apple Music on my AppleTV I have to say to my Homepod, "Hey Siri, play X on TV" every single time.

If I only say "Hey Siri, play X" it will stream music to my HomePod instead. There's no workaround to change my default player, I need to say "on TV" after the command. Unless you want to make special magic words to start playing music on Apple TV with Siri Shortcuts.

This is the longest 2 seconds you will ever spend everytime you give Siri a vice command, and honestly I don't think it will ever change. Apple would rather see Spotify dead, you see? Apple Music will always be #1 in Siri's priority. Unfortunate, but this is what I get for walking too deep into Apple ecosystem.

Oh no, some typos! 😱 Call the police!

And way to completely ignore my point. It’s time saving effort too. When you go up to a friend, you say “hey Fred”, you don’t use their entire name each time you address them. Why is that?

Actually, also not a time saving method by using a first name. It's an etiquette preference. You wouldn't walk into a meeting with the CEO of a company for the first time and call him Bob... No you'd use Mr. Smith. As we get comfortable and develop relationships with people, we start using first names. Because a person's name is the greatest connection to their identity.

You also wouldn't use someones first name in a conversation with an individual that didn't know that person or in an instance where 2 individuals might have the same name... Otherwise you'd get "Bob who?' Or "Which Sharon?" And where's the time saving in having to answer that?

You're just digging yourself a deeper hole. Would you like a shovel instead of the spoon you're using to dig that hole?

To bring this full circle and keep on topic... having to say "On Spotify" is not a time saving method. It may be a preference for the user, but Apple doesn't have to cater to your preference. Especially when they have a competing offering such as Apple Music which they would prefer you use. Again... their system, their rules. If you don't like it, give Android a try. From what I hear they have plenty of customization.

Sooo... would you tell your partner "Yeah just get me a taco" without specifying where you want that taco from? I mean, could come from Taco Bell, maybe Del Taco, you could even end up with a taco from Jack In The Box... Did you want street tacos? Steak? Chicken? Veggie?

What about coffee. Would you walk up to the counter at Starbucks and bark "Hot Coffee" at the person taking your order? Do you expect them to know what brew you want? Maybe they can read your mind when you really wanted that hazelnut latte?

I'm also not sure why you'd want to stream music on your TV vs the HomePod in the same room, but I guess that's your preference. Everyone's allowed a preference, I'm sure there's a mobile OS out there to suit your needs. Might not be iOS tho.

God help you if you grew up using DOS. I mean... hell we had to tell a computer to use the A:\ instead of the B:\ just to access files on 2 different disks. There was no way to just say "Play Commander Keen" in the command line. You had to be specific.

I'm just going to go out on a limb here and guess both of you are under 25 and part of a generation that takes way to much for granted. I mean good god... Those 2 seconds man... that could add up to a whole hour over the life cycle of a product...

Okay, let’s say I once asked my wife to get me a taco from Taco Bell. One minute later I told her again to also buy the quesadillas for the kids. Oh and also a few nachos and sodas for the guests. Do I have to keep reminding her “buy extra nachos on Taco Bell”?? Is she dumb or something?

It just gets old really fast to put emphasis on each command everytime, when Siri could maybe remember that I’ve just played music on the TV. So why not just stay in context and make it a temporary, default music player? But no, Siri is too dumbfounded so I have to keep add “on TV” after each command.

Yeah, I use both Homepod and ATV on my living room. I prefer my ATV simply because it’s connected to AV receiver, and obviously a much better set of speakers. Homepod is there for a simple quick music for the wife, and also Homekit controls.

Yes, everybody has preferences, and even DOS is smarter than Siri. Once you put DOS through drive X:\ most of your commands will stay in context with said drive until you told it to switch.

I’m simply using AM and Airplay 2 benefits to its fullest, so I don’t actually care whether Spotify is getting support from Siri or not.
I was switching to AM for this reason. Deep integration with Siri and all my Apple hardware.

No. You are. Quite deep.

Yes. Because my partner, being my partner knows what my default place for a taco is. Or a burger. Or a chicken sandwich. They know me. Sad that the device I carry with me everyday doesn’t.

Would you like a saw? Because you just blew it on that one too. 😂
