I am absolutely sick of half of my homepage being taken up by podcasts when I have never listened to a podcast on Spotify.
Same. Another thing was we had a family plan, and I can't stop my kids from accessing the podcasts, so we had to go to Apple Music, which all of us don't enjoy at all. I just want Spotify for music, wish there was a way to disable podcasts.

What they need to focus on is making us pin shortcuts on the home screen cause right now they’re a mess, they change and sometimes they disappear. And also, give us back the ability to swipe from right to left in library

Podcasts is the most annoying feature in Spotify. The app keeps getting worse and worse although the interface is still better than Apple Music.
I’m glad I’m not the only one. I have used Apple/Macs since the 80’s, and love their UI/sense of design, but the interface of Apple Music is uninspired and just bland. That, and lack of last.fm/scrobbling support, is why I haven’t considered leaving Spotify.

We switched to AM from Spotify because of podcasts and not being able to disable them on our family plan. AM’s UI, AI and features are so lacking. My wife went back to Spotify with ads!

Ouch. I couldn’t do ads. I would almost rather not listen to music at all… almost. The other reason I can’t leave Spotify is my playlists. It’d be a pain to export.

Yeah I used a paid service that ties the Spotify API to the AM one, and it worked well, except AM doesn't have a pile of licenses for songs, so I lost them. Very sad as on playlist I've been curating for two decades.

I can't handle the ads either!

And what's really annoying is that it's only the podcast that gets pinned to your homepage 'shortcuts'. So, if I don't listen to a bunch of podcasts daily it starts going from 6 to 2 pinned shortcuts. I never see my 'liked songs' or a favorite album being pinned... so stupid.

Spotify will continue to make podcasts more and more prominent in their app, because they won't have to pay the labels if their users aren't listening to music... I do not care about podcasts and as soon as apple music cleans up their act with their Mac app I will switch my family subscription
Then I’ll go to Apple Music

Good idea. Discoverability of new stuff on music apps is not ideal right now, neither for music nor for podcasts, so some innovation in that regard is a good thing.

Although I have to agree with others that podcasts and music should be in separate apps. Yes, they are both audio, but that's about where their similarities end. Music and podcasts don't serve the same purpose.
And what about Video Podcasts? Bet you they are working on that as well….and then it’s a small skip to Netflix territory. I just see Spotify becoming very very messy from here on. Chasing increased user numbers without making sure your product is good. Sure, there might be more money in podcasts or video, but why mutate your original product so others can claim that market?

I feel that is the problem with lot’s of the tech businesses right now. Everyone’s chasing higher user numbers, sacrificing usability, becoming something else than they originally was, becoming a “everything app”, eventually becoming too big, messy, noisy and unusable (hey, looking at you Fnckerberg). Where is the Feng shui? Where is the minimalism? It sounds a little silly, but I actually believe this maximalism we’re seeing is bad for usability.
