I have noticed that you can now download directly on Spotify to the AW over WiFi.
Apple Music is way behind in having to add the music on the AW phone app and make sure the AW is on the charger to download music to the watch. Seems archaic?

Which do you prefer?

Apple Music. On the watch they are similar but AM is better everywhere else including in my Tesla.

My experience with Spotify on the Apple Watch has been...okay. There have been times where a downloaded playlist has just been unable to play for unknown reasons and others where, despite tapping on "download to watch" it never actually does. These have gotten better over time, but the few months I had Apple Music, I never had any of these issues. I'm sticking with Spotify and all its warts because I like the service better and I don't pay for it. :)

I’m now using Amazon Music for a long free trial period but have some issues on the watch, Apple Music worked the best, Spotify somewhere in between.

I have the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and despite having songs downloaded to the watch, sometimes songs won't play and it seems like Spotify keeps wanting to play from the phone instead of the watch and switching to the watch is troublesome. My experience with Spotify on the Apple Watch isn't great and I'm considering switching to Apple Music because of it.

I think this is a recent bug, i’ve sent them an email about it, makes sure you have the latest version of the phone app (if you don’t have auto update switched on).

I don‘t use Apple Music. I do use Spotify and love the watch app.

One thing I had problems with was downloading music to the watch. The best way it seems is to have Spotify open on the phone, open Spotify on the watch, then disable Bluetooth on the iPhone (forces the watch to download the tracks over wifi). The downloads then come down super fast.
