Spotlight Deavtivated.....?

i am running Tiger 10.4.11, and my Spotlight is deactivated.....
i tried looking in Spotlight Prefs in the Prefs Panel,
but all the boxes are checked.....
so, what else can it be that makes spotlight not work....?

Just download the onyx utility (make sure you download the right version for your os!) from here:
http://www.titanium.free.fr/pgs2/english/download.html

and go to the maintenance section, rebuild tab, check rebuild the spotlight index, execute. That should do the job.
