Spotlight doesn't scan my external HDD

I have a LaCie Porsche 250GB external USB hard drive and when I type a file that's localized there in Spotlight, it doesn't show the file that I'm looking for. I have looked at Spotlight preferences but I don't see anything related to this. Could anybody help me? Thanks
 
sorry, I've never used fat32 formatting and don't know what the problem may be. Hopefully this bump will help out.
