    I don't understand spotlight anymore.

Recently I got a hold of a rather large pile of sheets that were in a mess with litterary thousands of files in no order. I thought great, they are all pdf's and I'll just search the folder for what I'm looking for but no. It doesn't ever try. However I set the search parameters there's no luck. Even though I can see the file right in front of me spotlight can't find it. Then I tried searching for other things around the drive and sometimes it works, most often it don't.

So I'm asking, what the hell is wrong with it. Have I missed some setting somewhere?

I'ts driving me nuts. And lately some Logic soundscape files have gone missing aswell, but there's no way of searching for them except manually.

Its not indexing anything so it can't be that.

    grumble grumble.

You could try Onyx and use it to rebuild Spotlight's index. It's under the Maintenance tab and under Rebuild. Maybe this will fix any problems you're having.
