Spotlight wont search

Spotlight hasnt been working for me lately. I click the magnifying glass in the menubar and type what I want in. The box then shows that little loading circle(not teh color pinwheel). The window then closes.

I tried resetting Spotlights index but that didnt work. 🙁

What can I do?

Maybe drag a file named com.apple.spotlight.plist to your Desktop, restart and then try reindexing again. Just out of interest, are you reindexing using the Privacy tab of the Spotlight System Preferences? 🙂

The preference file is in your user library's Preferences folder.

i had this problem too, i tried to use spotlight early during bootup after 10.4.5. simply restart and wait a good few mins, then try.

Didnt work. 🙁

I can use spolight via the search box in finder windows but not the box from the menu bar.

Well, how exactly did you try reindexing?
