Sprint Activation Issues? Activation is "Pending"?!

My wife received her new iPhone 6S Plus today. She turned it on, went through the startup pages and then was shown a screen stating that the activation was pending with Sprint and that we would receive and email when activation was complete.

I've never seen anything like that before - is this new or is something wrong?

I was at Best Buy today and the guy told me he wasn't able to activate any sprint phones. Servers were down.

Live chat on sprint will hook you up. You might have to wait a while to get someone but once you have a person it's pretty fast.
