I don't get why people buy a $50 phone over a $199 phone. You're locked in for 2 years. Get the best phone! That's barely over $8 a month for the newer phone.

The truth is your paying close to $2000 for that cellphone for 2 years.

Are you talking about the 16 GB version as opposed to the 32 or 64 GB version? Or are you talking about the subsidized/locked-for-2-years vs. the unsubsidized version?

I picked the 16 GB version for the simple reason that 16 GB is enough for my uses, and I can put the $200 to better use elsewhere. Yeah, over the life of the contract, that's not a huge amount, but it *IS* still $200, and it's $200 not spent up front, compared to the plan, which will cost what it costs regardless of the up front cost.

If you're talking about subsidized vs. unsubsidized, it's not $199, it's $649!

Is Apple retail matching only for Sprint? Maybe if they do for Verizon, I'll get my wife a 16gb 4s and use the gift card for my new iPhone...

I think it's only for Sprint. Best buy has some discounts for iPhones though. You should check out their site.

Old IPhone vs new iPhone model.

I had a friend that picked up a 3GS over a 4!!! Lol

10 kbps is absolutely horrible. Do you mean 10 mbps? The iPhone 4s does not even support Sprint's 4G network, therefore you won't see high speeds on a Sprint 4S. You must have been using an Evo or some 4G phone that supports sprint's higher data speeds. Not the 4S.

No. I mean 10 *kbps*. I know what 4G is and I definitely can see my iPhone doesn't have it

My point is that Sprint + 4S = slow

Unlimited yes, faster no.

It REALLY depends on where you use the phone most. In one end of town Sprint was great for me. In the other end, it was slow, even with 3+ bars (never had iPhone with them, but I had an EVO). If you are almost always in an area with bearable data speeds it could certainly be fine. If you want a higher average data seed no matter where you are, AT&T is the one to go with. With AT&T, you end up paying up the more data you use though. A bit of a catch 22.

You are NOT Getting a Rebate from Sprint OR Apple...

...You are still being charged the full $149.99 + Tax and you are only getting a Pre-Paid card worth $100. So there is NOT a true REBATE. Creative marketing for people not paying attention but to call it a rebate is false & misleading.

It says you get a $100 AMEX gift card. Although not quite cash, it is good anywhere that accepts AMEX, which is quite a lot of places.

I've never had an issue with Sprint. I've been with them for 8+ years. When I wanted to upgrade to the iPhone I demanded that I keep my plan as close to what it was. I have 3 phones, only one with web, email, etc. With my 25% corp discount my monthly bill was around $80.
Before I got the iPhone I called customer service a couple of times until I got the answer I needed.
I now pay about $100/mo. with an iPhone and two plain old cell phones on the plan.
AT&T sucks in NYC. I had them for a week. Couldn't connect with someone standing across the street.
Verizon wouldn't come close to what I wanted to pay.
Unlimited data on Sprint... I'm happy.

Apple Gift card...nope!

I just talked to the manager in my local store in Fort Worth, TX and they said they are honoring the $149 for the iPhone, but not the $100 Apple Store Gift card!

This was my experience with the Apple stores in KC MO/KS. $149 but no gift card/rebate. I don't know how MacRumors confirmed this info., but it's simply incorrect.

I have the pleasure of using all three, AT&T, Verizon and Sprint. The iPhone I use on a day to day basis is on AT&T and my wife and kid's iPhones are on Sprint. Occasionally I use the Verizon iPhone when mine is almost dead and I have to use someone else's in the office. I actually like the fact that with AT&T and Sprint you can use data and voice at the same time (emails coming in while on the phone) as opposed to Verizon. That gets to be a pain. Verizon I tend to drop fewer calls, but the network is a bit faster. Comparing Sprint to AT&T, at least in Orange County and Los Angeles California, hands down Sprint has been way better. Side by side my wife's phone always has better coverage than the AT&T phone, faster network speeds and tends to be more reliable. Take that for what it is worth, but I can compare the two right next to each other and the Sprint network just flys in comparison.
