Sprint has introduced a new unlimited data plan for tablets for $20 per month, but with some caveats to consider.

The fine print: video is optimized to 480p resolution, music streams at up to 500kbps, and online gaming streams are limited to up to 2Mbps. Data deprioritization also applies during times of network congestion.

iPad and other tablet users can choose to add HD video streaming at up to 1080p+ and HD music streaming at up to 1.5Mbps, and online gaming at up to 8Mbps for an additional $20/line/month.

To be eligible, customers must enroll in AutoPay automatic billing and have at least one active phone line on their account. The plan is available without an existing phone line for an additional $50/line/month.

The tablet must be purchased from Sprint's selection of available tablets, which includes the iPad lineup.

Then what are regular web speeds (loading websites, downloading files, etc.)? But hey, at least they're now one of only two who offer such things for tablets and smartphones.

Pahaha. Reminds me of all these TalkTalk/Plusnet 'unlimited broadband' deals in the UK. Unlimited data means absolutely nothing when the speeds are so slow, you'd be hard pressed to hit a monthly limit of 20GB.

Before fibre was fitted in our building, it used to take over an hour to download a 150MB graphics driver... :(

Ironically this level of throttling, in tandem with unlimited data, is probably easier on Sprint's network than if everybody downloads at full speeds but with a monthly cap.

Serious question: Where in the world do they offer music streams at 1.5Mbps, and is there any real benefit? Isn't Apple Music 256Kbps? My new car has a premium Harman Kardon sound system (IDK if that's good but sounds fancy) which, to my ears, is way better than anything I've ever owned and Apple Music streaming sounds great on it from the highs to the lows.

Too many fine prints with sprint and tmob. Looks great as a headline but then.... slow service, deprioritization and if you want useable service it really cost twice as much or more if you aren't on their service now. Oh and you cant bring your own device, you have to buy from them. They are really hoping that no one reads the fine print, I guess....

So not worth it. Glad I finally left Sprint after giving them so many opportunities to improve. Horrible service all around.

yeah so it costs $70 a month if your not a sprint customer, and i guess you have to buy your ipad from them also? you can't just walk in the door with any ipad? i get t-mo tuesday stuff and video+hotspot+music+mexico/canada on my $35 t-mobile plan and i am not required to have a voice line

This just in: Sprint will date your ugly sister if you sign up for anything they offer.

Operators are standing by!

I would love to have that on my iPhone (I use data for calls anyway).

But that promo is useless since you need to be already in a plan.

In addition to their crappy network coverage is a throttled data speed and SD videos for iPad. What in the world is going on!

not a bad deal even with the fine print given the way I use my device (not streaming much of anything on iPad). I wouldn't want to have to deal with Sprint for my phone though and at $70/mo it's much less attractive. I'll stick with my ATT 5GB plan that I never burn through anyway.

So in other words, what T-mobile already offers, except T-Mobile offers it for $10 and you can bring your own device.

You also don't need AutoPay with T-Mobile.
