Judging from this thread, it is clear that Sprint needs to offer a test drive program similar to T-Mobile's to get people to try their supposedly improved network, thus reducing the barrier for switching.

I suppose if the coverage is good and network speed is sufficiently fast, it would be worthwhile for some to switch. Having said that, I really hate Sprint's fuzzy math plans. Well that and their refusal to unlock phones.

T-Mobile may not do everything right but one thing I really like as a recent customer is simplified, clear pricing plan. All these fuzzy math is probably there to confuse existing customers getting worse deals than new customers, as well as to discourage them to downgrade to plans that probably is better suited for their needs.

Hmmmm? Their just trying everything to get me back!!?? Oh well!!! Sorry! I broke up with you last year after over 12 year relationship! I'm staying ATT ,thanks!! Should have treated me right when we were together!

I can't believe Sprint is still in business with as much backlash & unsatisfied customer support I've read about or have heard lately. Pretty much everyone I know who has or has had Sprint hates the service. It's 2014 & it seems Sprint's network is still operating as if it was still 2004 or something.

You have to give them your phone and they give you nothing for it. Then you have to buy a new one from them!

I suppose you can go onto Swappa or eBay and get an iPhone 4 for about $70 and "trade it in."

That said, I'm sure corporate discounts won't apply to this plan. I have a grandfathered AT&T UDP that works out to $74.99 before discounts and taxes. With my corporate discount and taxes it is around $61. I'm guessing Sprint would "halve" it based on $75 to $37.50 and then layer on taxes and fees, bringing it back up to around $50. So I'd pay about $750 upfront to save $11/month on a slower network. It would take over 5 years to make it back.

Not a chance. They lost me forever with their .3 Mbps data speeds and their refusal to unlock my iPhone 4S after my contract was up. I jail broke my 4s and used it on T-Mobile and got 9-12 Mbps for a year before upgrading. I had a sales guy approach me in the mall and when I told him this, he swore up and down that sprint unlocks phones now and that their network speeds have tripled with LTE. He showed me a speed test that came out to a whopping 1.4 Mbps. I laughed and told him that it's great sprint has tripled their data speeds, but there's no way I'll ever go with anybody but Verizon or tmobile ever again.

I just switched to T-Mobile but would have easily gone with Sprint. What held me back is the fact that Sprint's network sucks.

However, I will say that competition is a very good thing and I hope Sprint forces the other carriers to lower their own prices to compete for customers.
If this sprint promo doesn't garnish any new customers, I don't see VZW or ATT lowering prices. At this point sprint is a non-threat since it appears many people, myself included, prefer an excellent network with a premium price over a **** network with a cheap price.

Agreed. But at least for me, I'd still wouldn't go back because Cricket has the right combination of speed, coverage and price. In fact, I don't see myself ever going back to any postpaid service.

if they would allow verizon customers to bring their compatible iphones over, they might start getting somewhere. But there is no reason for me to sell an iPhone 6 and 5s only to have to turn around and purchase the exact same thing all over again. The limited coverage and slower speeds I could deal with, but $1400 worth of new devices just to save $50/mo I can't.

Turns out I'm an AT&T customer who prefers having service over saving money.

I couldn't of said it any better myself. I've never had service issues with AT&T, and I'd prefer to pay more over going with a carrier that just isn't reliable.

Let's look again it's been a few months...

Have they stopped with the only Sprint branded locked down devices BS...

Nope.

I can't even consider them. It's like they don't even exist as a choice..

Maybe I'll look again in a year or so.

You can't even call it a network. You pay out the nose for 4G and I couldn't use it more than 20% of the time. Sure they offered you "unlimited data", but what good is that when you can't use their data network.

I was loyal to them for over 10 years and then when I switched to Verizon and saw what a real network was like, I almost cried at the amount of time I wasted dealing with Sprint.

I'm with you. I was with Spring since 2003, left them in 2009 for AT&T to get an iPhone, so when Sprint got the iPhone in 2011 I jumped right back. Biggest mistake ever! Their network was slow from the getgo, but after a year it became intolerable! I had to break my contract a few months later I just could not take it.

Now with Verizon, have an excellent plan that doesn't brankrupt me. I'll take that anyday over Sprint
