cable tv is soon going to be "so last year". I would not worry too much about Sprint TV. ABC plans to stream live to your smart phones and tablets, I'm sure lots of networks will follow. I would not recommend being caught up in a 2 year contract while all this plays out.

exactly. and how are you going to stream anything at .5 speeds?

It wouldn't hurt to test out Sprint, it may be good in your neck of the woods. After all you do have the 14 days to figure that out or not.

But I would either give AT&T or T-Mo a try.

I was getting 6.50mbs on a iPhone 4.

Speed means nothing. It depends on where you are and how much people are accessing that tower at that exact same time. I'm assuming you are on AT&T or T-Mobile? Your speed sounds like GSM which is completely different from what Verizon and Sprint uses, which is CDMA. Two differing technology. By CDMA standard, 1.43mbs is excellent. For GSM, it is mediocre.

I had sprint with an iphone 5 and only paid 70 bucks with my corporate discount. However I paid the ETF and went to T-Mobile because of how bad the service was. And I live in HOUSTON....that was one of their first LTE markets to launch. Well I haven't ever looked back since switching to tmobile. There's a reason sprint is offering all these promotions.....they are desperate for customers.

Btw I get a 15 percent discount on tmobile (i only pay 70 bucks a month just like on sprint) or I could get a 23 percent discount on ATT. If op doesn't want to switch to tmobile then look into att. You may get a nice corporate discount with them as well.

Sprint has 3G LTE not 4G LTE And no hd voice or VoLTE. 1.43 Mbs is horrific.

Then you step outside of NYC, and you drop to blazing fast EDGE on your unlimited connection. TMo doesn't have VoLTE..

What's the point of unlimited, when you only get EDGE?

At least Sprint has 3G

As a sprint user now I would say DON'T DO IT !!!!!!! I tell you this I have been with them for almost 5 years and the most 3G speed I have seen is 2 Mbps on a good day and .5 on average. Also they promised WiMAX we got it Amin my city which gave us normal 3G speeds but they stopped supporting WiMAX phones go figure. And I was told we would have LTE by march April or may but I'm still waiting its terrible and not worth the hassle. Plus 10$ extra a month for what they call unlimited Internet access fee but if your services are to damn slow to do anything I have no idea why in paying it

I have been a Sprint customer for the past two years, and I've hated it. I've lived in two of the largest metropolitan areas in the country during my time with Sprint (Dallas and New York) and the coverage and slow data speeds have been inexcusable. I switched to Verizon this week and I won't be looking back at all. I highly recommend avoiding Sprint.

Honestly I have not experienced this.

If you are going to go with Sprint, then trust the rule of a 14 year customer. Never, EVER believe a word out of ANY Sprint rep's mouth. That means their email, their phone call or in person.

Sprint's reps are either the worst trained and therefore most clueless, purposely kept in the dark or both. Most especially do NOT trust ANY deadline you are ever quoted. Sprint will always exceed that deadline by a minimum of six months and usually by over a year. Most times they won't even complete, such as WiMax.

This port promotion I don't know anything about but I would lay money on it that the phone(s) you get will be the 16GB models. Perfectly fine if you don't use much, but I have 18GB just in video on my iPhone 5 so this would be pointless for me. Just saying.

About trying the service and canceling if you don't like it. Recently, I've been hearing about Sprint pulling a fast one and counting weekends as business days. So, if you do decide to cancel make sure that you do it with at least a 3 or more days left so Sprint has no way of screwing you over on that. And they will try to screw you over.

It is good practice if you become a customer with Sprint to do your homework before dealing with them at all and even better is managing to avoid having to deal with them at all. Just assume that any Sprint rep is automatically lying to you (even if they tell you that humans breath air) and you'll be more or less ok as long as you don't expect anything from Sprint. Like meeting deadlines and getting good service.

So we are getting off the Verizon network and switching to Sprint, because my company gets a 23% discount.

My wife is currently using the iPhone 4 and I'm on the 4s.

Sprint is running a promo, port a number to them and get a $100 off a phone.

So the iPhone 4s is free while the 5 is just $99...

I'm thinking I'm going to get the 5, don't know if I want to be locked into a deal on a 4s until 2015 summer.

My wife wants to take advantage of the free 4s, saying it's only a $100, but it doesn't grow on trees.

I'm thinking that she is maybe crazy. A iPhone 5 for just $99...you can't beat that can you? Even if the 4s is free.

I didn't read the posts below yours, but I'd say this: If you're hellbent on Sprint, I would first make sure there's 4G in your area. If you're on the 4S like you said with Verizon, the speeds are going to make you cry after switching to Sprint. I'm usually around 0.25 Mega***BITS*** per second download, and around the same upload. Conversely, Verizon in my area is usually around 2 Mbps down and 1 Mbps upload. Remember, data bandwidth is in BITS and files are BYTES.

So if a website you're going to is 1 MB, you're going to have to wait:

0.25 mbps download rate, converted to megabytes: 0.03125 MBps
1 mB file

32 seconds.

Keep in mind most streamed audio files are 3 MB, give or take. Video is more.

So, if you do switch to Sprint, enjoy waiting 5 minutes for your YouTube video to load.

That being said, at least they have a 14-day money back guarantee minus the activation fee. So make sure if you're not happy you get rid of it.

I've said this a thousand times on these forums:

What good is unlimited data if you can't use it?

Now, if you have Sprint 4G LTE service, you should be okay to get by. But you'll need the iPhone 5 to use LTE. The 4S and older use 3G. While you'll typically get a better 3G signal from these same nodes (they're both LTE and 3G at one location, it's called Network Vision), you're shooting yourself in the foot in terms of technology and upgrades while you wait 2 years for your next upgrade.

I'm sorry, 3G LTE? This doesn't exist. At least, not in North America. Sprint uses tech based on CDMA2000, which is also a precursor to 1x RTT.

If you're trying to mention that they have HSPA+ this is also incorrect as this is a piggyback of GSM technology and not CDMA. CDMA is not capable of HSPA+. You'll have to use AT&T or T-Mobile to get that.

Sprint has 3G service, 4G via WiMax, and 4G LTE in deployment mode now. The only iPhone that can use 4G LTE is the iPhone 5. No iPhones can use WiMax, and the iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4, and 4S can use 3G.

Let me reiterate: If I didn't have family that were nervous about switching to T-Mobile, I would have switched by now, paying an early termination fee on two of my four lines. I hope I can work on them to make the change. But I won't be doing ANYTHING until the new iPhone comes out, then I will make my decision.

I left Sprint in December 2012 for Verizon due to speed issues. I was with Sprint from 2005. I watch as their speed slowly dropped over the years. I live in Cleveland and Sprint has the city well populated with towers. I was only able to get 2 bars in my apartment on a regular basis and anywhere in my neighborhood At most I would get .6 meg download speed on 3G and 75% of the time I got .8 - 1 meg on WiMax.

Verizon LTE gets hammered here and I get some days 8 meg at most, but that is fine for anything I do. I'm just glad I get perfect signal and usable data.

check your location.. if no LTE I wouldn't get it. this is what I get in NYC
