problem is the iphone has a little bit more pull then android. more people are going to buy the iphone on sprint then android phones (probably combined). It's always been that way, I see no reason why this would be any different.

People choose carriers first, and then phones. Sprint's network sucks as it is...they're going to sell tons of iphones and they'll eventually have to move to tiers. If VZW who has the most robust network there's no reason to think Sprint eventually won't.

You sir, are severely misinformed. Android phones have a much greater marketshare in every country, including US. Also, Sprint matched Verizon for customer satisfaction in Consumer Reports 2010 survey. I'm not saying their network is as robust as Verizon's is, but it's come a LONG way in past years.

So the question is...is tethering enabled?

If so I am jumping ship from AT&T.

So did AT&T. So did Verizon. Will it last?
Anyone who signed up is grandfathered.

Where is T-Mobile? They were so busy selling themselves to AT&T they forgot about the iPhone and now that the AT&T deal is all but dead…??

If more people are going to buy the iphone on sprint than android phones all together, how does android have a market lead in the US?

Sprint and Verizon are both CDMA networks. IE - No data during a voice call.
Not true if they include a radio in the new phone for data/voice. All Verizon LTE phones do it (Thunderbolt can even do it on 3G).
Yes, it is true. You do understand that CDMA and LTE are different, right?

I've only needed this once so far in 6 months of having a VZW iPhone, and I was at home, so was able to with wifi. It's only a big deal to some.

Not at all. Marketshare is a conglomeration of all devices and all carriers. iPhone outsells all android phones on at&t and verizon. No reason to think that wouldn't be the case as sprint. There's no relevancy to comparing global marketshare to what phones are being sold per carrier. the iPhone is going to be the most successful phone on sprint, and will outsell several (if not all) android phones on the carrier combined.

re: hotspot?

If Sprint really sticks to existing pricing structure, the hotspot capabilities are an extra $29 per month fee. I have it on my corporate Sprint phone right now ... Not cheap on one hand, but on the other? With truly unlimited data, it's still a better value than any other major carrier's tethering packages.

If that unlimited data included mobile hot spot access, I would definitely be interested!!

because android is on several carriers. see my response above. global marketshare has nothing to do with it. iphone is the top selling phone on at&t, and the top selling phone on verizon, and outsells many android devices on both carriers combined.

Yes, tethering is expensive on Sprint. HOWEVER, they have a promo where you take $10 off the mobile hotspot plan if you bundle up. So really, for $35, you get a smartphone AND mobile hotspot with unlimited 4G (Wimax) and 3 GB 3G. Seriously considering doing this and disconnecting my home cable internet.

I live in a strong 4G sprint coverage aera.

I for one welcome our new iPhone overlords if they truly are coming to Sprint, but what I don't understand is how this is even happening next month and if the phone has been in production already how we have not seen a phone yet, or even had any announcement from Apple.

I have never owned an iPhone, but have always been fascinated by the insane rumor mill and with this release being longer then any other iPhone so far the rumor mill seems more over the top then ever. If the rumor is to believed we see a phone in the beginning of October shouldn't we have an official announcement yet? I really thought there would be one the week after Labor Day.

In previous releases does anyone recall how far in advance they were officially announced?

Silly. Global marketshare not allow grandfathering in of devices. When combine is greater than iPhone but outsell one on one. But more android, defnitiely. Is known fact. Yes?

Hoping for a GSM T-Mobile iPhone 5 with unlimited data (and no At&t merger).

Sprint (and Verizon), can't talk and surf and can't use it in Europe, no thanks.

Wait, I point out someone's hateful post and I get voted down? Something is wrong with this forum....

my AT&T contract ends tomorrow.

I regret pulling the plug on my unlimited data/phone plan for the AT&T iPhone, but if Sprint's network cannot handle data and voice at the same time I'll stick with AT&T. I need that duality for school.

it's either data or voice. Can't do both on sprints/verizons CDMA network.

No one is disputing that android has higher marketshare. Not sure why you think that's what I'm saying.

What I'm saying is on Sprint (only sprint) iphone is going to outsell all their android devices (probably combined). On at&t, iphone outsells all their android devices...on verizon they outsell all their android devices. there is zero reason to think that android is not going to be outsold by the iphone on sprint.

meaning iphones marketshare will go up in the US. will it take over android? no. why? because android is available on far more carriers then iPhone in the US. It's not rocket science...

Why can not everyone have opinion. To pay for demigod status does not make your opinion best. See?

Never implied that it did. Why would you even mention my demigod status? What does it have to do with anything? I don't flaunt it or act like I'm better for it.

It's one thing to have an opinion, it's another to say it in a way that is so obviously hateful.

It's worth noting that anyone with Verizon unlimited data plan keeps it even if they upgrade.

As far as a wifi hotspot, it costs $20/month with Verizon. So 450 minutes + unlimited data + hot spot = $95.00.

Please understand, I am not shilling for Verizon . It's customer support is abysmal. I'm only assuming Sprint's is better - it certainly can't be worse. :(

What problems have you had with Verizon customer service? I have been with Verizon for the past 4 years and the customer service has been great. Very friendly and helpful to me. I am not sure that I would go back to Sprint though, there billing was a disaster. Almost every month they had billing errors on my account which they never could straighten out. I probably spent more time on the phone with customer service trying to straigten out my bill then I used minutes for the month.

My contract with Verizon is up in 20 days, just in time for the iPhone 5. I like having more choices for cariers, AT&T, Verizon and now Sprint and possibily T-Mobile.

I still love my unlimited data on my AT&T phone. :)

Lots of speculation, which is what these boards are for I guess. I'm more curious about the reality of AT&T vs. Verizon vs. Sprint in specific locations.

I'm in San Diego, with a 45 minute commute, and AT&T phone service is the worst thing I have ever experienced. Any Sprint customers in San Diego with great phone service? I would leave AT&T in a heartbeat if Sprint proves to have better call service with unlimited data.
