My area is due for a couple upgrades in the coming months due to Network Vision, so ill give them a couple more months of this ****** data before i jump ship.
Just for reference, I left Tmobile 4g (which i had hit 14mbps on) to this (always less than .5mbps) It would be different if i could watch Youtube videos on the go, but I might as well forget about that, as well as even STREAMING MUSIC. smh

Sprint's data speed is like dial up

Indeed. I still can't get above 200 Kbps download speed. :-/

Sprint data speeds are HORRIBLE everywhere I am and go compared to the other networks. I'm just hoping they'll get on their A-game soon and this ****** service is because iPhone is new to Sprint and overloading it temporarily..

You do know it is a software problem with the iPhone on Sprint. I have an EVO 3D and my wife has the iPhone 4S. I live in the northeast, and my EVO almost triples the speed, both upload and download compared to the iPhone 4S. It is most definitely a software problem with the iPhones' way of communicating with each of the towers. I have notified Sprint about the problem and was told they knew about the problem and are working on it, something about software updates and tower updates. Who knows when they will fix it. If I remember right, when the iPhone went on AT&T, the service was terrible for a long while. So give Sprint time to fix the problem. It is both Apple's and Sprints problem with towers and software. I have been with Sprint 13 years, and only had a handful of drop calls, maybe 1 or 2 a year. My data speeds have always been pretty good. I have driven down South, as far as Florida, many times over the years, and have never lost a signal. I am really getting upset of all the haters of Sprint. If you live in an area that Sprint doesn't work well with, then go to another network. Sprint, in my area is on par with Verizon, but is better than AT&T. It does help that the Sprint tower is only a half a mile away from my house.

Sprint's EVO 3D uses 4G technology (The iphone uses 3G). Thus data bandwidth comparisons between sprint's iphone and sprint's EVO 3D really provide no information about the nature of sprint's iphone bandwidth problems.

The reports from their tech staff, OTH, might possibly be on point.

The 4G you refer to is WiMAX, which uses a different radio and is completely separate from the CDMA connection (3G).

I had several android phones on Sprint and none of them had good data speeds. The only place I got good speeds were near my house (ironically, because at my house I had no connectivity at all). In the city it was often hit-or-miss, an if was in a building forget it. Trying to look something up at Best Buy was usually like pulling teeth.

I know.

So that means you're agreeing with me when I say that sprints evo speed tests shed no light on the nature of their 3G speed problems?

Your words support my statement, but your tone sounds like disagreement.

Where I live (Phoenix, AZ), I get good speeds on Sprint. I switched from ATT and the speeds are definitely slower but how fast do we really need speeds on a phone? As long as I can surf the web and stream video and music without much lag, I don't care what the actual speeds are. And in caparison to Verizon, my brother-in-law has a Verizon iPhone and every time we have done speed tests side by side, the Sprint iPhone wins. I think people that are having issues with Sprint's speed are either expecting too high of speeds or are in an area that are poorly served by Sprint, in which case, they should consider switching to a carrier that would be more reliable for them. Here is a screen cap of a typical speed test for me.

I like the "test advertisement" in this picture!

Let me clarify myself. I am comparing the EVO 3D using 3G, not 4G. My 4G speeds are off the charts, comparable to Wifi, sometimes better. I was comparing my EVO 3D on 3g to the iPhone 4S on 3g right next to each other in the same place. Why would anyone think I would compare 4G (Wimax) to the 3g speeds.

Trust me, this is a problem with the communication of the network to the iPhone, which could be corrected with OTA updates and modification to the towers.

The EVO 3D is fully capable of operating on only 3G with WiMAX turned off. You seem to be assuming that it's capable of only operating on WiMAX, which is simply untrue.

There's no problem with comparing EVO and iPhone 3G speeds.

Wondering if Sprint did a post-Christmas service rollout. Getting great 3G speeds in New York City.

I just did a download using a iPhone 4 on Sprint and an iPhone 4 on AT&T. The exact same file (14.5 Mbs) took 9 minutes and 47 seconds on Sprint and 37 seconds on AT&T. Sprint is just about as slow as dial up. What gives?

The speeds are horrible, however Sprints pricing is where it's at. When me and my Mom can have 4S' for less than $100 a month, I'll deal with it.

The 4G on Sprint phones is optional, you can turn it off and just use 3G. I always ran on 3G on my Evo, because I don't pick up 4G at home and when I was somewhere that had a good 4G signal, I found it to drain my battery.

That is horrible! On Sprint in my area, a download that size never takes that long.

OK I hear you now.

I figured that if you hadn't mentioned specifically testing on 3G that you were unaware of the distinction. I figured wrong. :)
