After owning both the 2G and 3G iphone, I've never had a problem with it taking harsh drops. On Friday, I dropped it no more than a foot and the screen decided to crack. Fortunately for me, I have accidental damage insurance through Squaretrade.

Has anyone on the site filed a claim with squaretrade for a broken iPhone? If so, did they repair it or simply reimburse you. Everywhere on their site it says they will repair it except for rare cases. Everywhere else has people claiming they just got paid cash.

If you have an experience with Squaretrade, would you please share? Thanks.

My experiences with them has been very sour. I run a business on eBay selling refurbished goods: ipods, cell phones, gps, and video game systems. We have most of our customers just buy the warranty with square trade as I only offer a 30 day warranty period. SquareTrade has been deciding to tell people to file paypal claims etc rather than honoring their warranties. I'm working with John Donahoe about this matter as eBay has them as the top warranty company.

Everyone else's experience with ST somewhat like this?

Ya, their Ebay warranty has always made me wonder a little.

My iphone was new, so it has nothing to do with ebay or paypal. I just hope they reimburse me the $499 I covered for (minus 50 deductible) so that I can get a 32GB 3GS.

I have to think Squaretrade is going to be a little concerned about people possibly "dropping" their iPhone 3G in order to get money towards a new 3GS. IN other words, having Squaretrade buy your upgrade to 3GS.
Maybe others have experience with iphone 1 when the 3G came out, did Square trade do anything to make sure people didnt work the system?

If they offer accidential damage protection then there is no real way of knowing whether the drop was accidential or not. How else can one work a system when it comes to a warranty company that offers accidential damage protection?

Hopefully they aren't like statefarm. Personal articles policy for a computer (like a high end mbp) is 50 dollars a year with no deductable. Once you make a claim your rates increase and your deductable is either 400 or 1000 dollars , i think it depends.

Well

my experience with them has been very good I bought a fake China wanna be Iphone I bought the Square Trade Warranty the phone stopped working after a couple months the guy I bought it from On Ebay would respond to my emails and I could not get contact info from the company that made the phone even though it should be covered under warrenty. Square Trade reimbursed me 100%
