Is anyone here getting a SquareTrade warranty on their iPad? I was considering it as I have one for my iPhone, but even with the discount it's $71-.

Well then you have to evaluate whether an insurance policy is worth $71 for you. If you never need it then it may be $71 wasted; if your iPad is damaged and they fix or replace it then it's $71 well spent,

We went with it on our iPads. We went with one on each iPad. Might have tried one plan to cover both, but my wife got a white one and I got black. They need receipt copies when you submit a claim. It would be my luck that we submit something on hers, then a week later we needed something on mine.

We have a 6 year old daughter who will use them every now and then, we go RVing a lot in the summer, etc. If one drops and the glass shatters, we are covered.

The current promo of $72 is a pretty good deal for what you get when you compare to BB or AppleCare.

I got it yesterday.

It was my first warranty with them, but I read every fine line and sure enough its actually a really good warranty. Its transferable and for $71 it covers Accidental Damage for 2 years. Also, if you cancel within the first 30 days, you get a full refund, else if you cancel later its prorated.

Oh yeah, not to mention the $0 deductible for claims! I would get it for sure!

I tend to take really good care of my electronics, but I already know it's $100 to replace an iphone screen, i'm betting more for an ipad screen plus it's all glued together now so they probably would just replace the whole thing. I think $70 for covering accidental damage is a great deal especially if you got one of the more expensive iPads (I got the $829 one) plus the warranty is transferable (which is sure to be great for resale just before ipad 3 comes out)

Where are you guys getting that price though. On their website it's saying $96 no matter which version you select.

If you become a fan of SquareTrade on Facebook they provide a discount code. If you don't find it let me know.

Found it! Thanks. Turns out there's multiple squaretrades on there but I found the real one. sweet. Kinda bummed I didn't do it last night though so that I'd have coverage in the first 30 days. Gonna have to be REALLY careful

It's also nice to know when I go to get the ipad 3 that if I can't sell it anywhere i can at least get some of my money back.

The new iPad warranty also provides a buyback provision at no extra cost.

ya doesn't give you much though. it's only 50% within the first 6 months, and about 20-30% if you're selling it around the time the next one comes out.

it's a good back up in case you don't find a buyer your self though.

I put stockcerts as my refferer but I might have waited to long. it just took me back to the homepage. I'll wait a little while to see if I get an email so I don't get charged twice.

If you use the ipad outside of your house, the odds of dropping it at least once is pretty good and for $70 you'll get it replaced.

I asked them about that since I bought within 24 hours, and they said that that policy has changed. Here is the email they sent to me:

Thank you for contacting SquareTrade.

I would like to inform you that previously there used to be a 30 day exclusionary period, but this has now been waived since the past few months and the coverage starts on the day you purchase the warranty, irrespective of the day you purchase your item.

However on cell phones like the iPhone for which the warranty can be purchased for iPhones older than 30 days, this exclusionary period still applies.

We would require copies of your proof of purchase for each of the iPads, at the time of filing a claim. I am sending you an addition email with instructions of how to send them in to us.

Hope that answers your question! If not, feel free to reply to this email or call 1-877-WARRANTY (1-877-927-7268) US & Canada only, 24/7.

Thank you,

Jesse

Your comment:

On Accidental Damage Protection, I have read a few things. Some things I have read are that you have to buy on the same day as your purchase to have this go in affect immediately. I have also read that if you buy the warranty within 24 hours you will be covered from day 1 on Accidental Damage?

We bought two iPads on the 11th of March 2011 and have bought a warranty on each on the 12th of March, 2011. We did buy the warranties within 24 hours of our purchase though.

Are we covered right now for Accidental Damage, or does it start after 30 days? I would hope that since we are within 24hours of our new purchase, we are covered now.

I received a confirmation email with my plan summary within minutes of completing my warranty purchase.

The 40% discount that you get for using the IPAD40 discount code ends on Monday, the 14th.

I called and they give you a credit for the unused balance of your iPad 1 warranty. If you take the $40 refund into account( had to pay 71 and wait for 40 refund ) my warranty was $31 after the coupon code.
