Sometime a few weeks to a month ago I started to notice my left pod squeaking when I walked while listening to music. It's that high pitched squeak like feedback from a microphone. It was only my left pod and it didn't happen when noise cancellation was set to "off". I figured the only thing that made sense was physical damage to noise cancellation from dropping. It's covered by Applecare so I chatted with support about getting a replacement. They had me do the obligatory factory reset which I thought was a waste of time but something I had to do for them so I did it...and wouldn't you know, the squeaking is gone. Has anybody else experience this?

I haven't experienced it yet but I have read a lot of posts about this issue. Most people got a replacement but eventually, the problem comes back. Refer to this thread: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/airpods-pro-rattlegate.2233658/

Thanks! Yeah, I had read about cracking and rattling as a common issue, but I don't recall anybody commenting on squeaking. I'm guessing these are all related. I just never expected a factory reset to solve the issue because I was 100% convinced it was a hardware issue and they needed to be replaced. Perhaps this is just a short term solution, we'll see.

I only get a very faint squeak when pushing them into my ears when gripped in a certain way. It hardly happens though, & I can only notice it if there’s no background noise.

In the middle of several books.
I haven’t experienced this problem. I am prepared if I do.

I'm having the exact same issue with only my left one.

Update: Called tech support.

Warranty replacement left pod underway.

My first pair started randomly blasting a full volume tone out the right ear. You could hear it across the room. A factory reset of the EarPods fixed it. But it was such a weird and painful and unacceptable problem to happen in the first week that I returned them as defective.

So did they have you do a factory reset and that didn't fix it?
I had tried a reset before I called support, but it made no difference. During the call they walked me through the reset again and it actually made it worse.

Well, wishful thinking I guess. The squeak came back today. Apple is doing a replacement of the left pod.
