Your opinion please.

My school is selling the Santa Rosa MBP 2.4 ghz for $1500 USD.

This is $300 cheaper than the EDU price for the new Penryn MBP 2.4 ghz.

Do you think it's worth the $300 to get the newer model? The specs are very very similar (except for the multi-touch trackpad, of course).

Thanks for your advice.

really? that's way low! it's lower than the refurb price! get it if you can! that's what i'll do if i was in your school

thanks for your replies.

no, those prices don't include sales tax. they are clearing out old inventory. i just wanted to know what macrumor people thought. so $300 is too much to pay for multitouch?

Wow thats a great price. If you don't mind waiting, literally seconds longer to encode a video or using special effects in photoshop then go for it. Thats is a super fat discount for a very good machine.

Definitely a very good deal. The (performance) difference is pretty insignificant.

Buy it before they're gone.
