I was looking into getting an agility 3 SSD for my 2011 15" MacBook Pro and was wondering about firmware updates for the drive. From what I can tell, the only way to update firmware for this device is to use a utility in either Windows or Linux. What I was wondering is if it would be possible to simply use wine to bottle the application that performs the firmware update or if there's a simple way to update firmware without installing a secondary operating system on the drive.

I think there needs to be an NTFS partition on the drive, so I don't think Wine would work.

It can be done without an NTFS partition. This thread on OCZ's forums gives the option to use CD-bootable tools (it basically runs linux with the fwupd software on a livecd) but it's known not to work on the 15" and 17" 2011 MacBook Pros. Something similar would be fantastic.
