I am just wondering how many times data can be overwritten on the SSD drives included in the Macbook Pro.

Is it safe to use torrents on these drives or should you point the files to an external drive?

Those flash storage units use MLC NAND that are rated for 3,000 write cycles per cell. Here is a good article that calculates some lifetime estimates. Also a good test here.

The short version is even under fairly heavy usage, that SSD will likely last longer than the computer. I would not worry about it.
