What is firmware? How do I update it?
Firmware is a very small software program stored on semiconductor chips such as NAND chips. It contains the software code and commands required to operate the device.
Samsung recommends using the latest firmware and Magician software. Regular updates are needed to maintain the latest version of firmware and software and add customer experience improvements, including operational stability and performance optimization.
Samsung SSD firmware can be updated using the Samsung SSD Magician software. The Samsung SSD Magician software can be downloaded from the Samsung website.
www.samsung.com/ssd or
www.samsung.com/samsungssd
If new firmware for the Samsung SSD is available on the system, then the ""New Version of Firmware Detected (Version Number)"" message will appear next to the Update Button on the firmware update screen.
The Magician software is only available for Windows and cannot be used for Linux or Mac OS X. A bootable USB drive or CD can be created with the firmware ISO file. (available at
