I have an ADATA SSD that has gotten very slow. It is 240GB in size and has over 138GB free.
It is used as a CCC backup disk only now.
What should I do to make sure the GC is working? Leave it plugged in for how long?
Dismount it but leave it plugged in?
Any suggestions?

The amount of free space only helps the GC if it knows that the space is free, i.e. if it never contained any data and/or TRIM is being used.
Thanks for the reply, but my question is rather more basic. I should have mentioned that this drive is connected via USB-C not thunderbolt, so Trim is not activated. So my question is, in that case, when trim is not in the equation, how long do you have to have a drive connected for the GC to kick in? I assume it depends on each controller/hardware, but are there any general quidelines?
I intend to try to ask on the ADATA user's forum in the near future.
