Most of the people who buy this option chooses to have the OS installed on the SSD drive and all the other programs on the HD. What is the benefit of this solution considering that for most of us the iMac enters sleep mode the time it is not in use and hence start-up time is not an argument for using that kind of money...? Have I missed something here?

The benefit is that even waking from sleep you don't have to wait for the drive to spin up. In theory it's faster.

SSD wil speed up things that require disk access such as opening applications. Some people say it's worth it while others say it is not. HD is the biggest bottleneck in computers so yes, SSD is nice. You should go into a store and play around with Mac with SSD

Also in iMac, where the inside of your computer is like a oven:eek:, a SSD will live much longer!
