Yes, there seems to be two display panels on the Macbook Air, the LG and the Samsung. From the spreadsheet, everybody with a 13" i7 had an LG panel except one or two people who had a Samsung panel.

According to the Anandtech review the difference between panels is not very noticeable, there's only a slight difference with viewing angles, but I wouldn't say it's a deal breaker.

Here's the review of an 11", but the panel "lottery" is explained, you can also find a link there to the SSD review:

Does anyone know if you can just return this machine at Best Buy as well? I would love someone who has done it to confirm.

Yes but why?

You will notice NO difference and would never had known about this if you didn't visit this site.

I totally agree. I have used 11" MBA's with both Toshiba and Samsung SSDs (both 256GB)... and there is zero noticeable difference between the two.

It is a total non-issue.

If you return it, what reason would give ? that you did get the version that you want on the SSD or Display ? or what ?

So, from what I can tell, the Toshiba is faster at some tasks and the Samsung is faster at others. In fact, it seems the Toshiba is faster in what matters most - day to day usage and application booting. I don't understand why one would exchange one for the other... each has strong and weak points from what I can tell.

This goes the same for the screen. As others have pointed out, in the Macbook Pros in the past the LG was considered the better screen. Now the Samsung is. It's all very subjective and not noticeable in real life.
